🎬 2026 Movie #8 | No Other Choice (2025)

January Movie Marathon Month
I have grown a bit of a tradition in January to watch all the 'Youtuber Top 10 Films Of The Year' videos to catch up with everything that was potentially good in the previous year. I'm still catching up on making posts on the ones that I watched so far and continue to stick with watching more 2025 movies for some time maybe past February before moving on from them.

No Other Choice (6.7/10)
I actually watched this movie before I watched Rental Family but this kind of slipped my mind. I also notice that my drive to write a post about individual movies that I watched is very much linked to my overall excitement about them. I guess that is a reason why I accidentally skipped this one as I loved Rental Family along with the next 2 movies I watched after that one so much while No Other Choice and the conditions in which I kind of forced myself to watch made it rather forgettable.

The movie starts of pretty good showing the life of a man who has some quality time with his family owning a nice house and having a great relationship. This is followed by a restructuring in the company he works at where he gets fired and him not finding anything else which makes his dream life crumble.
I would say this is the first thing I didn't really relate to, as I'm someone who has a pretty simple life thinking most people are just living way beyond their means so to say. So yeah, if your entire lifestyle is build around the income you have from 1 job, you are putting yourself in a situation where you easily can get screwed and it's hard to feel any sympathy for that. I guess the movie Perfect Days from a couple years back is the opposite in this regard and I absolutely loved and related to that one.
What happens next is that he tries to get his old job back making a desperation plat to pretty much track and kill all the suitable candidates who apply for it one by one. Often I found myself not really understanding what he was doing and who was sho which might have something to do with a slight lack of focus. The movie also never got me in the state where it captured me or drew me in wanting to know what would happen next. I can't say anything bad about the visuals, the music, or the acting which were all fine. It was just the story and I guess the deeper themes that didn't click with me.

Conclusion
No Other Choice despite the fact that it's high in all the list never really managed to capture me. It was a combination of not really being most fresh when watching it combined with the fact that I just didn't relate to the story in any way. This is not a bad movie and it's filmed beautifully. It's just not my thing even though I generally enyjoy asian movies. So I'm rating it a 6.7/10 for all those reasons.
