The Gift of Presence: A Lesson I Never Expected from My Niece

Most of the time one of the thoughts that we have within ourselves is going to be the fact that if we have to learn something and gain some new lessons it is going to be coming from someone senior as they are going to be our parent sorry even the teachers and even or grandparents as those are the people who have a lot of experience about life itself and can be the sources from where we can be learning a lot of life lessons and it is quite natural to think as well but it is something which can be a little bit different sometimes as well.

One of the biggest lessons that I llearnedwas not from someone quite senior but was very young and it was very unexpected to be having my little 10-year-old niece be that source of learning something and also a very valuable lesson as well because something that has made me think about quite a lot and has been very much effective as well to just think about it and also take actions accordingly.

It was just a normal evening when I was visiting at my cousin's house and over there it was just like another day as it was quite frequent for me to travel to their home and I was just residing over there but I went directly after work to their house and that was a particular situation for me where I had a lot on my mind as there were a lot of issues that I was dealing with and many things were there which were constantly going on in my head and all of that was not making me a lot more attentive to everyone around there because of which I was involved in my phone a lot of the time.

That is something I knoticedthe swell and she came up to me and just started to talk with me that conversation was quite normal but as it went on it did involve a lot of things and suddenly she dropped a line which stuck to me even now and she just said that "why are you even here if you are not here?"

I never understood why she said so and what she meant by saying that but it was very deep because I was in a particular place where I went just to have some fun and also catch up with my own family but I was present somewhere else with some other issues which were not even letting me focus at the present where I was which is something that is going to be a very common thing in almost everyone's life and that is making us lose a lot of amazing moment that we could have easily enjoyed.

Those words were something that were quite harmless and innocent and not even something that was like a complaint to me but it was actually the real thing that she noticed was happening and she just put it in front of me and ever since that happened it has always stuck with me because I was present in a particular place in my physical terms but at the same time my mind was somewhere else and that was something which made me think about how often is this a thing that happens with me and I very quickly understood that this is something which happens almost every time even when I am driving somewhere or if I am converting with someone or even I am doing a completely different thing my mind is always going to be stuck somewhere else and I am never able to enjoy any moment or stay in the present which is something that is not a very good thing to be done.

Immediately after she said so and after a little bit of thought in my head I kept my phone away and started to talk with her and also try to enjoy the moments with her there were a lot of activities that we did and it was I'm very nice time that I spend in that particular visit and since then I always tried to be able to be present in the current moment itself rather than being completely away from something else because it is not something that is going to be affecting only us but it is also going to be affecting a lot of people around us as well which is something that we need to understand.

It is surely not very easy for people to be present at the moment because there are a lot of things that we need to be constantly thinking about and not let us present in D particular movement which is because there are a lot of issues that require to be solved and without those things getting sorted it can't be let go from our mind.

This is when children come to be one of the best people who can be noticed in things and also trying to keep words exactly the way they see it as she saw exactly what I was doing even though she was so young she noticed the things that I was doing and also did observe it so correctly that she even told that to me as well and that was a thought which made me think quite a lot about many things a day which made me change a lot of things after that happened.

Life can be a very big teacher and it can be teaching us things in very different ways that is something we need to be looking up to as it can be something that can come from even unexpected places as well because of which we can gain a lot of such valuable things which we might think that is not even relevant but at the same time, they can be extremely powerful lessons as well which is something that can be changing our entire life in some ways as well.
