Hooked on the Scroll: How Social Media Shapes Our Minds
So today's topic is social media impact on mental health. So, how does social media impact our mental health and what are its side effects. Today we are going to talk about it. Many times we see that adults are fine. But social media has started showing a very deep impact on small children also. Small children do not eat food without checking their phone, YouTube or Instagram. We adults have also got addicted to it to such an extent that we do not eat food without checking Instagram.
And actually, during this Covid time, I got addicted to social media. From the time I woke up in the morning till 1:00 in the night, I used to do Instagram stories only. I used to see what is going on where, what is the caption, what is the trend and how did many such posts happen? Actually, people who are connected to social media influence, have been murdered and all this. Recently, a new case came to light in connection with social media, where a wife killed her husband. Because of social media, he was just telling her to give us some time too by staying away from social media. If you use social media in the right way to stay updated, then it is very good. But if you use it regularly and it becomes an addiction, then it impacts your mind a lot.
Many such cases have been seen like there were two sisters in Nepal whose bodies were found in their rented house. She was also a social media influencer. In many such jails, people start killing each other and social media dominates our mental health too much and we ourselves do not realize when this happens. We do not realize when we become addicted to Instagram while scrolling through it. It had become a habit for me to open Instagram as soon as I woke up in the morning. Then in the washroom too, while brushing my teeth, then while having lunch, so all this had become a habit and this.
And this is a very bad thing. We should use social media to stay updated and to update our lives about what is happening and what is not because most of the news that we get is through social media, so we should use it to stay updated. But if we do it more than this and scroll too much, then it becomes an addiction and this addiction is very bad and it is very bad for our mental health because many such cases have been seen and in many such cases there is no conclusion that due to social media, mental health has been affected so much that if you stop thinking, then your mind stops working about what you are doing or what impact it will have, so using social media is a good thing. But doing it too much is a very bad thing.
My younger brother was also addicted to social media. He is scrolling Instagram during study time and on his laptop. He is scrolling YouTube. He is scrolling FB and there are many frauds also. We believe in them a lot through social media. What happened to me was that there was a social media profile. Very good profiles, looking at decent profiles, it seemed that yes, someone is selling something good, so I ordered two kurtis, after which I received all and after that that page. They blocked me and there was no contact number of anyone there. There was nothing, so due to this, such frauds have increased a lot through social media. You need to be very careful with this because the amount that I lost due to all these frauds was big but not that much but many people have been cheated up to Rs. 12000, 1300 ,5000 so be careful with all these. Use Instagram a little. Use Facebook. Install them comfortably It can affect your mental health as well as your pocket pitch.
I just want to give this advice that keep your children away from social media. Parents of today should not influence their children in this way. This is a good thing. You can make them do some activities. You can make them do good activities. But they should not get addicted to this thing. You have to take care of this. The further they are away from social media, the better it is because it will affect their mind a lot because till the age of 3, the mind of a child is like a plant, if you give them sunlight and water properly, it will grow that much better, but if you keep them in a closed room, they will not be able to do it. The mind of a child is also like this. Till the age of 3, the mind of a child is like a plant, so how to grow it. It is in your hands, keep them away from social media. Show them the phone less. Keep them away from TV and do some other small activities. Playing. Keep yourself busy in all these things and my biggest request to elders is that you should use social media to stay updated and to stay away from fraud and all these things. You should not trust anyone easily. You should stay away from all these things and only as much as you need, otherwise it can have a lot of impact on your mind and you yourself will not know what you will do at what time.
