Win The Battle In The Mind
Every significant victory in life will begin from the mind. This is why I believe that if you are able to win the battles "within," then it will be easier to win the battles "without." No one is truly defeated in the battles of life until they have lost the battle in their mind. The success that you seek after will first be established in your mind before it will manifest outwardly. You will be surprised how a lot of people have lost opportunities, direction, and even their confidence, not because they lack the abilities, but because they first lost the battle in their mind. It is the thoughts of your mind that shape your actions, which will determine the outcome of your life. If you want to win the battle of life, then you have to first win the battle in your mind.

The mind is so powerful that it can determine a very significant outcome of your life - it can inspire courage, resilience, and creativity. On the same hand, it can also generate fear and doubt. There are times that you may want to do something and a voice might begin to whisper some discouraging and negative thoughts to you. Like; "what if you do not do well?" "are you prepared for this?" all these things can trigger discouragements. If you listen to them, they may stop you from taking steps and you would have lost the battle already.
You have to understand that, even though you are freely given a brain to think, and a mind to reason, you still have the responsibility to determine the kind of thoughts you create. As a matter of fact, in order to win the battles of life, you have to understand that you have the power to determine your own thoughts, and not every thought requires your attention. What you constantly think will become part of what builds your dominant actions, and will also create the outcome of your life. If you think possibilities and positivities, you actions will follow in the same way, and you will discover that your life is full of positivities.
A very fundamental tool for winning the battle in the mind is self-awareness. You have to learn to observe your thoughts, and then fight the ones that weaken you. A lot of the negative thoughts that people have are simply based on fear and on assumptions rather than on reality. By replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts does not mean that you are blinded to the challenges of life, but it means that you are intentional enough to choose a response that will be constructive and not destructive. Do not think your situation, think the solution, think differently.

In order to also win the battle in the mind, you have to beware of what you focus on and what you hear. A friend once said that "the eyes are the pathway to the mind." This means that what you constantly focus on will determine what you will begin to think. No wonder it is often said that "what you look at will influence what you look like." If you always watch or listen to negative things, they will begin to influence your life for negativity. More so, you should beware of the kind of people you keep close to you. If you stay with negatively inclined people, you will begin to think negatively, and you will see the world negatively. But if you stay with positively inclined people, you will subconsciously think positively and see the world positively.
You have to also learn discipline. To win the battle in your mind, you have to understand that there are things you need to say "yes" to and the things you need to say "no" to, but you also need to know the difference between them. You may not be perfect, but you have to mentally discipline yourself to allow only what will benefit you, while fighting the thoughts that do not benefit you. If you want to win on the outside, then focus first on winning on the inside.
