The Power Of One Right Decision - To Do The Right Thing

One single decision that you take can change the course and trajectory of your life in ways you can never imagine. Life is not just shaped by some external forces, but by the decisions you take and the choices you make. A single right decision that you make might seem small at the moment, but the effects it can command can go far beyond what your eyes can even see. The choice to do good has the ability to set a lot of things into motion, it can even influence your character, your relationship with people, and what becomes of your lives. The decision to do good is not a gift, rather it is choice. At each stage of your life, you will be presented with choices to make. It is the choice and the decision you take that will become the foundation upon which a lot of things will be built in your life.

Your decision to do what is right can open the doors that you never knew existed. A friend of mine who is a cashier experienced something like this some months back. A customer came to buy something and mistakenly added extra money to the agreed price. The money was actually received to her own personal account, since the company's P.O.S machine was offline at that time, so as to forward it to the company's account when the machine is back up. So she discovered the overage at the end of the day when she was already at home. She looked for the customer's phone number, called him, and told him about it and requested for his account number to send the extra back.

This gesture pleased the guy, because he did not even notice the mistake at that point. More so, for the fact that she offered to send the money back and was truthful about the transaction made him to look at her positively. The next day, he came back to the company and extended a goodwill to her, and even got her a gift as a way to encourage her to maintain her goodness. Adorably, the gift he got for her was worth many times more than the money she returned. If she had not returned it, she would have missed out of the gift. More so, she now has a good relationship with the customer, which is now a plus for her, because a good relationship is priceless. What you do at each point in your life may be your choice, but the results will not be your choice.

Every right decision that you take begins from the mind. There may come to a point when you feel that doing the wrong thing feels easier, faster, and even more rewarding. At this time, you have to make up your mind to do what is right. It requires an extensive amount of courage at this time to do the right thing and to stand by what is right. Like telling the truth when a lie would protect you, or refusing to compromise your values even if it means sacrificing personal gains. These are the moments that actually test who you really are. Doing what is right may not attract immediate applause, it may not even be noticed at the moment, but in the long run, it will speak for itself. Building on the foundation of rightness will surely pay off at the end.

Just one single right decision you take can set your life on the course of positivities in ways that you cannot even expect. As a student for example, others may be relying on doing malpractice in order to pass, and they will not see the need to read. But you can become different by being studious and putting in hard work to pass. Imagine those students that rely on malpractice get caught in exam hall and suspended, they would get the negative consequences of their bad actions. While the other student that studied well will pass gracefully. The right decision you make might look ordinary but it can create extraordinary effects. There is no good step or right decision that you take today that will not bring positive result to you.
