Living A Life Of Sacrifice: In The Spirit Of The Season
This is a period where a lot of people around the world, particularly the Christian fate celebrate the Easter. Many people see it as a season to enjoy, celebrate, and make merry. However, beyond all these, you need to understand the reason behind the season and how it relates to the everyday life. Have you ever asked yourself how many people your life have affected positively? I mean, can you point out to any sacrifice you have made for the sake of humanity? The truth is that what makes the most meaning about life is not about who you are or what you want, but how you have affected the life of others with what you have.

In this world, a lot of people focus so much on "me, myself, and I." They think that it is the way of life, but what they fail to understand is that what sets you apart in the world that is ladened with darkness is the light you bring. In the same way, in the world were selfishness has almost become the order of the day, your sacrifices are what set you apart. You have to understand that sacrifices may not mean only some very grand and massive things, but even in little things, you can still find sacrifice in them. For example, helping someone when you are very tired, giving from the little you have, giving someone listening ears even when walking away looks easier, etc. Greatness is not about how much you have, but how much you give.
In this festive period, you should not get carried away by the celebrations, or with eating and drinking. There is nothing wrong with celebrating, but you have to remember that love is better shown through actions. You have to look beyond yourself and also see the needs in others. There are people, even around you, who are passing through a form of life's struggles, hurts, pains, or in need of kindness. You can become a shoulder for them to lean on. Making sacrifices also means living for them, and letting them feel part of a people who care.
The reason for the season also calls for a heart that prioritizes others. This includes choosing to be patient with people when it is easier to react, choosing to show kindness even when it is not deserved, and choosing generosity and liberality even when it stretches your pocket. Understand that sacrifice is not weakness, nor is it a disadvantage, but it is a controlled strength. Trust me, it takes a significant amount of courage to be able to give up your comfort, or to part with your possession, just for someone else to benefit.
It is also worthy to note that sacrifices always have a purpose. You do not just throw things around, rather you do things for the upliftment and betterment of others. That is, you are planting the seeds of love, transformation, and hope.

This festive season is not just another event in the calendar, rather it should be a moment of reflection, that will lead to a turning point in your life. Ask yourself "who can I help?" "Who can smile because of me?" "What sacrifices can I make today?" It does not require much. It might be just some words of encouragement, an idea, sharing what you have, or a little compliment, that will put smiles on someone's face. When you live for others, then you are fulfilling the true essence of the season. But much more than that, acts of kind should not be for just one season, but it should be for a lifetime.
There is an inner joy that is triggered when someone is happy because of you. More so, when you do good, you are sowing seeds of goodness, which will be required to make the world a better place. No matter what you have, where you are, and your level or position, you can still be a blessing to someone. It is not what is in your pocket that counts, but what is in your heart.
