Good Health: The True Riches
While growing up, there was this man within the neighbourhood who owns a retail shop down the street. The man opens his shop around 5am in the morning and would run till after 11pm in the night and sometimes even till midnight, every day of the week. I wondered if the man sleeps at all in his house nor takes any rest. He was always busy chasing after money. After a long time of that habit, one day, as he was coming out of his house, he had a partial stroke. It was so sad. The same shop was locked for months, and a lot of money was spent to treat him. He realised that rest is a non-negotiable necessity of life. Having a good health is actually a wealth of its own. This is why you need to take care of your health.

In the world we find ourselves today, a lot of people are so consumed with the thoughts of chasing after money, fame, influence, and possessions. Yet they forget that true wealth is not necessarily a function of what you own, but how you live. It is ironic that a lot of people spend their time, energy, and sacrifice their rest just to get money, only for them to spend the same money trying to fix their health. What you need to know is that there are things that money cannot truly buy, and one of them is good health. Good health is actually the foundation on which a lot of other things are built on, including wealth. Of course, you need to be healthy first before you think of acquiring riches.
I once heard a story about a very rich businessman who could afford luxury lifestyle; luxury cars, mansions, trips to anywhere he wanted, but when a chronic illness struck him, he spent a lot of his fortune trying to buy back his health. The more he spent, the more it looked like the situation was defying medications. After a while of spending heavily without noticeable improvement even with all his money, he was tired. On his sick bed, he wrote "shame on money." He thought that his plenty money and massive possessions could buy him good health and life, but he realised they could not. Taking good care of your health is actually what will guarantee the enjoyment of the wealth.
Nothing makes sense to someone who is ill. There was a time some years back that I had a challenge with my gum. For some days, I felt so much pain in my mouth region that I could not eat properly. Imagine seeing food, having appetite, yet could not eat. This just shows you how indispensable good health is. Tell me, if someone has everything that money can buy but does not have health, how will they enjoy their possessions? Fame may fade, possessions may break, even money may fail, but good health will be what will sustain every part of your life.
In order to take care of yourself, there are things you need to observe and do, which we will take a look at. Firstly, you should not compromise your rest. Know when to work and when to rest. If you do not willingly and consciously take rests, a point may come when you will forced to take a rest, and that means your health may have broken down. When you work, always try to take a rest. In addition to taking rest, you also need to be conscious of your nutrition. Eat well, eat rightly, and eat timely. What you eat can have a great impact on your health. Do not eat just to fulfill your cravings, but because of the nutritional and health benefits. Not just what you eat, but how you eat also matters.

The next way to improve your health is to maintain a neat and clean environment to avoid contacting diseases. Keep yourself and your environment neat.
Another way to also stay in health is to engage in regular exercises. In this era, a lot of people can be behind their screens for hours without even stretching their body a bit. Engaging in physical exercises and workouts will greatly improve your health. It is not about going to the gym and lifting weight. Even something as little as a morning walk, or an evening jog, can do you a lot of good. There was a time I used to spend long stretch of hours on my device, and then I noticed that my back was aching. So I got an advice from a friend on how to take a couple of walks in-between. He advised that after I have sat for a couple of minutes, I should stand, stretch, walk around, before continuing. When I started practising it, the ache went on its own without medication. Learn to exercise your body.
