Doing The Right Thing The Right Way
More often than not, it is not just about what you do that matters but how you do it. You have to understand that success is not only determined by what you do but also by how you do it. A lot of people focus on doing the right thing, and they also believe that the intention matters more than anything. It is true that it is good to do the right thing, but much more than that, also endeavour to do it rightly. By this, you have positioned yourself on the pathway of growth, success and achievements.

There was a time I went to the village many years ago during the vacation time. So I follow my uncle who was a farmer to him farmland. It was during the planting season. I asked him what he was going to plant for the season and he replied "just maize". But I noticed that the seeds of maize he had was a different colour from the regular ones we ate. I asked him why it was so, and he told me that the seeds were treated to make them more resistant to pest and diseases, and to bring better yield. More so, I noticed that before planting, he added fertiliser to the farm and then waited for about two days for it to settle, then he also observed other farm practices.
He then started to plant the seeds. Planting the seed was the right thing to do. But he did not just plant it, he had to put a couple of things in place to ensure a good yield. This is doing the right thing the right way. Even after he had planted, he kept nurturing and watering it. The growth was amazing. Adorably, when the harvest time came, which was a few days before I left, we went to harvest the maize. It was amazing that the harvest was good. They were big, and healthy. You see, he did not just do the right thing by planting, but he went further to do it rightly.
In life, you have to understand that the "how to" of a thing actually holds more importance than the "what." Which means that how you do something can go a long way to influence the potential outcome. Two people might do the same thing but at the end, they will have entirely different outcome as a result of the way they did it. For example, a student studying for an examination. We know that studying is good. But Imagine if they is studying without a plan, or even studying the wrong materials. Like reading a biology textbook when they have a chemistry exam. It is true that the student is doing the right thing, but they are not doing it right. The effort may not produce the desired and required result.
Even in your place of work, it is also applicable there. Imagine an employee wanting to eagerly complete a task that was assigned by the supervisor. But in the process, he ignores the instructions relating to the task, or communicates inadequately, or even rushes through it carelessly, he would missed the desired result because he did not do it rightly. Excellence is achieved when the right actions are carried out in the right way with wisdom, professionalism, and diligence. After all, the result is the main reason why you undertake an action.

One of the reasons why some people do not achieve success is simply because they are focused on the destination, while leaving out the process. Remember that it is not just about reaching your destination, but it is about how you reach it. That is, reaching it with integrity, excellence, and competence. As a matter of fact, it is the process that actually determines the quality and the sustainability of the result.
In order to do the right things rightly, you need to go after knowledge. That is, seek knowledge before you act. This helps you to understand the process, and even reduces the likelihood of mistakes. Then you also need to pay attention to details, and follow instructions. This is because deviating from instructions can lead to mistakes, which can negatively impact on the entire process. Finally, you have to practice patience and discipline. Note that doing things properly take time, but the results will be worth it.
