Daily Discipline: Doing What Needs To Be Done
There is a very strong force the leads to success which a lot of people underrate; this is the force of daily discipline. It is very normal for people to act when they are motivated, but the question is "what happens when motivation is absent?" It is the decision you make quietly to yourself that you will continue to do what is required even when you do not feel like it. I remember when I was in school, I made a study timetable for myself. There were days that I did not feel like studying, but I just had to. Not because I felt like it, but discipline kept me. It is discipline that leads to intentionality and sustainability. You tend to be more intentional about your life.

You do not just do things because you feel like doing them but because you need to do them and because they are right. You cannot achieve lasting success, excellence, and growth if you are not disciplined enough to be intentional about your life. The power of daily discipline actually lies in simplicity. It is not about doing something really extraordinary or complex once in a while, but about the little things that matter, and about consistency. For example, wake up early, do a 10 minute cardio exercise, plan your day, etc. These things may seem insignificant, but doing them constantly and consistently over time will produce unimaginable result. It is better to be taking one small daily step than waiting for when you will take a giant stride, which may not even come.
Daily discipline is just like a drop of water. When the water keeps dropping, before you know it, it would have filled the container. Small disciplined actions that you perform on a daily basis can shape your life in ways you may never expect. It also builds character. This is because each time you make a choice of responsibilities over comfort, you strengthen your willpower. Not just that, but you also train your mind to focus on values instead of just obeying your emotions. When this becomes your daily routines, it will also have effects in other aspects of your life. Like in your finances, how you manage time, in your dealings with people, and even in your thought process. Being disciplined may look strict on the outside, but on the inside, it brings direction, peace, freedom, and confidence.
When you have built yourself for discipline, you will be able to pull through difficult seasons. Trust me, life will not always be convenient for you. There are times that it may move in ways you never expected, and challenges might even come at some points. At these points, results may seem slow, efforts may seem unnoticed, and your energy might even be running low. It is at this point that discipline will become the anchor on which you rest on. It is the force that keeps you moving even when you feel like taking a break. The people who have made unimaginable impacts and successes are not necessarily the people who are too talented, but those who are very disciplined to do what is required and keep doing it even when they do not feel like it.

One of the footballers that I admire so much is Christiano Ronaldo. He has risen to become one of the greatest footballers that has walked this planet, and has bagged a lot of awards, both at the national level and at the club level. However, all these did not just come by talents alone, he was dedicated and disciplined to follow after his routine. It was reported that throughout his stay at Real Madrid, he was the first player that would arrive at the pitch for training, he would begin his own training before other players, then they would join him. After they have left the pitch, he would still remain to keep practising. It became a lifestyle for him, and it made him to achieve greatness in football.
Discipline is required to transform potentials into reality. You may be born with hidden potentials of greatness, but what brings them out and makes them become reality is discipline. A lot of people have dreams, talents, and idea, but if they do not have discipline, all these may not be fully realised. Discipline is what you need for your plans to turn into actions, and then your actions into reality.
