Be Willing To Be A Beginner Again
There is someone I know, who got a job as a sales representative in a company. But after about 2 years or so, the company did restructuring and he was asked to switch over to the IT department or leave. He did not wish to leave, so he switched to the IT department. At first, he struggled because it was new to him. But he kept practising, he even enrolled for an online ICT programme just to keep up with new and emerging technologies. He started learning coding. Over time, he became skilled in tech, to the point that he was made the head of the department after about 4 years. This was possible because he was willing to become a beginner again. There is no shame in starting afresh as long as you are making the right move.

One of the greatest barriers to growth is the fear of starting all over again. The truth is that, no matter how long you have been going on the wrong route, or the wrong way, you cannot get to the right location or destination. In fact, if you keep going on the wrong way, you make the whole journey even more complicated. The only solution is to take a u-turn and start again. You may have tried out something and it did not seem to work, or you did not get the kind of result that you need. You cannot keep trying the same thing that has not worked in the same way and hope that it will magically start to work. The solution might just lie in starting again with a different approach.
If you want to grow, then you have to also be willing to be a beginner. It is true that it may feel uncomfortable in some cases. This is because it may require you to step into unknown and unfamiliar territories where you may not have all the answers figured out. In the process of beginning, it may even include making mistakes, asking questions, and learning the processes step by step. For someone who has been into another field before, this can feel like taking a step backwards. But in the real sense of it, it is actually taking a step forward towards greater possibilities. The world is full of enormous possibilities, but you will not know until you take a step to begin.
Everyone who has achieved greatness today, and every expert you know was once a beginner. As a matter of fact, no one starts to build a house from the top. To build yourself in any field, you must begin. The skills that people display are built through practice, persistence, and patience. They were able to embrace the stage of beginning instead of avoiding it. They accepted the fact that growth requires humility. When you are willing to be a beginner, you will open up yourself to infinite possibilities. You will give yourself the chance to explore new paths, learn new skills, and even discover your hidden abilities that you never knew you had all these while.

In a world that is constantly changing and constantly evolving, the ability to start again is not weakness, rather it is an underrated strength. I remember many years back, a lot of offices used the manual typewriter to type documents. Fastforward to now, we have very fast and complex computers that can perform a lot of tasks. Now imagine if someone had the skill to use typewriter some years back, but did not bother to upgrade or learn how to use the computer, they will be edged out of the competition. You see why beginning again is very useful in some cases.
Being a beginner also teaches patience. Progress may seem slow at first, and the result may not even come as quickly as you expect. But you have to know that every step matters no matter how small it may look. Even if you make mistake, it is still part of the learning processes, and each learning will bring you closer to gaining mastery. With consistent steps, patience, and determination, what once felt very difficult will become very easy. This shows the power of patience, and of course the benefits of being a beginner.
