THE WICKED BROTHER
Once upon a time in the kingdom of Ezewarei, there lived a king whose name was Olodiwari. He was a generous and kind hearted king who loved his people so much. He never treated his people like slaves but like his children. He loved all equally. During his reign, there was peace, happiness, prosperity and progress. Everyone loved one another.
The king had a wife who gave birth to twins, two boys whose names were Feyima and Oderi. Feyima was the first while Oderi was the second. They were both loved equally by their father and mother. They grew up to be handsome young men in the kingdom. They were always seen together, everything they did they did together like siblings. It was always difficult to differentiate between the two of them as they were identical. Feyima was always kind, gentle, caring and loving. He never discriminated anyone no matter one’s background or social status, he loved all equally. People said he was like his father. But that was not the same for Oderi, he was arrogant, rude, and selfish and wicked to people. He treated the people as nothing, they were like slaves to him. The servants in the palace were always afraid of him because of rude behaviours. They people tried to understand where he got his mean character from as both his mother and father were kind-hearted people. His parents tried as much as possible to change his rude behaviours but it all proof abortive. His brother also warned him of the consequences of his behaviours. He will always get annoyed and argue with his brother. This led to him keeping malice with his brother.
One day, king Olodiwari fell ill. All known and unknown herbalist came from far and near to solve the king’s strange illness but all effort was to no avail. The people of Ezewarei were in tears as their loving king was ill and no one could solve or find a solution to his illness. Few months passed, king Olodiwari finally gave up the ghost and joined his ancestors. Fayima was made the new king as he was the first son of the late king.
Fayima ruled just like his father, he ruled with loved, fairness and equality. He was loved by all. People came from far and near to see him. The kingdom of Ezewarei grew in progress and prosperity. Oderi was jealous of his brother, he wanted to be king by all means, so he planned to kill his brother just to be the king. One evening, he and his brother were alone at the river bank. They went to have a swim. Oderi used this chance and killed his brother by making him drown. He lied to the people that a wild fish ate his brother. The people believed. Three days later, he was crowned king.
Oderi ruled the people with hardship and torture. They were all treated like slaves in their own kingdom. One day, Oderi went to the river where he killed his brother, he was alone there. A fish came out and told him that he killed his brother and buried him in the river. Since he was alone and no one was around to witness it, he killed the fish. Another day, he went to the same river with his servants, another fish came out and told him that he killed his brother and buried him in the river. He killed the fish and told his servants not to let anyone know what happened. Before three days, the news spread around the kingdom and findings were made. The chiefs went to the river with some young men and they discovered the body of Feyima. Oderi was dethroned and also banished from the kingdom.
