Desde el Puente Monagas /Concurso. Observa Piensa Escribe.[ESP-ENG]

Si conozco este rio y conozco este puente cuya vista nos ha traído esta semana el profesor @lanzjoseg, si miran un poco a la izquierda de la imagen entre ese verdor esplendoroso es el fondo del local donde trabajo. Y por supuesto el profe se detuvo a dejar saludos. No tenía café para ofrecerle. Lo siento mucho.

Cuando yo era pequeña el fondo de mi casa, que era un taller de reparaciones de lavadoras y neveras, daba a ese rio y allí siempre había una o dos babas tomando sol. Por suerte había una cerca con una puerta con candado que nos mantenía a salvo. Pero en una ocasión la puerta se quedo abierta, ni idea quien fue y cuando fui a colgar la ropa, uno de estos animalitos me sorprendió en el patio. Allí con la boca abierta tomando el sol. No paso nada, pero me asuste mucho, corrí y me monte en una mata de tamarindo grande que había en el patio y a pegar gritos para que sacaran ese bicho.

No he podido encontrar la fecha exacta de la construcción del puente Monagas sobre el rio Neverí, pero debió ser entre la década de los 70. Recuerdo que nos sentábamos almorzar y el golpe de los pilotes mientras las grúas lo colocaban hacia temblar toda la casa.

Pero si recuerdo una inundación en esa época, yo tenia 10 años y fue bastante grande. Años después construyeron un canal de alivio para evitar estas catástrofes. Hace unos años atrás volvió a ocurrir yo estaba de viaje, no fue tan grave, resulta que el canal de alivio estaba lleno de basura que nosotros mismos los humanos desechamos y se formo un tapón.

Nothing happened, but I was really scared. I ran and climbed a large tamarind tree in the yard, screaming for them to get rid of the creature.

I haven't been able to find the exact date of the construction of the Monagas Bridge over the Neverí River, but it must have been sometime in the 1970s. I remember us sitting down to lunch, and the pounding of the piles as the cranes were placing them made the whole house shake.

But I do remember a flood around that time. I was 10 years old, and it was quite severe. Years later, they built a relief canal to prevent these catastrophes. A few years ago, it happened again when I was traveling. It wasn't as serious. It turns out the relief canal was filled with garbage that we humans ourselves had thrown away, and a blockage had formed.

El rio Neverí esta bastante alto en estos momentos, ha estado lloviendo todos los días y por la fotografía el agua viene bastante turbia (no es que ella sea transparente) desde la cabecera, su origen en el Cerro Turimiquire, desde allí viene arrastrando gran cantidad de lodo.
