This Traffic Light Took 10 Extra Seconds and Ruined My Entire Personality

You ever sit at a traffic light that takes just a little too long?

Not long enough to justify honking, not long enough to actually file a complaint with the Department of Transportation, but long enough to make you question your entire existence.

I’m out here Doordashing, trying to deliver someone’s “extra‑crispy fries, please hurry” order, and this traffic light decides it’s time for a union‑mandated break. I swear it looked down at me and said, “Yeah… I’ll turn green when I feel emotionally ready.”

It’s always the same light, too. The one that’s green for everyone else — but when I show up?

Nope.

It goes into deep meditation.

It’s finding its inner peace.

It’s doing yoga.

It’s processing childhood trauma.

Meanwhile I’m sitting there like an idiot, watching the seconds tick by, thinking, “Wow… this is how civilizations collapse.”

And it’s never a dramatic delay.

Not two minutes.

Not five.

Just ten stupid seconds — ten seconds that feel like the universe personally targeted me.

Ten seconds where I go through all five stages of grief:

Denial: “It’ll change any second now.”

Anger: “Why is this happening to ME?”

Bargaining: “I’ll never complain about anything again, just turn green.”

Depression: “Maybe I’ll live here now.”

Acceptance: “This is my home. I am one with the light.”

By the time it finally turns green, I’ve aged spiritually. I’ve become a monk. I’ve reached enlightenment. I no longer need earthly possessions. I no longer need Doordash. I no longer need hope.

But sure — let’s pretend it’s “just a few seconds.”

This light knows exactly what it’s doing.

And I swear it enjoys it.

Anyway, that’s my grand saga of being emotionally defeated by a traffic light. If you made it this far, congratulations — you’ve survived my TED Talk about a glowing circle that controls my destiny. I’m new here, so consider this my official handshake, except I’m flailing my arms because the light finally turned green and I have to go deliver someone’s “extra ranch, please hurry.”

If you’ve got your own mildly infuriating nonsense, throw it at me. I thrive on chaos. I feed on it. I want to see the crooked shelves, the cursed packaging, the doors that close themselves like they’re auditioning for a horror movie. Let’s bond over the tiny inconveniences that slowly erode our sanity.

Alright, I’m off — the universe just spawned another red light specifically for me. Wish me luck.

It seems like some of the lights deliberately take longer early morning or late at night for some reason.

Thanks for posting here! In the future, please remember the post needs to also include an original image related to the post instead of AI.

I rarely take pictures when I am working but I was broken down on this fate filled day. What I really need to do is wrap my box and #driveforhive. Then I can submit my own DHF proposal for $1000 per day ;P

Haja fair enough. Sorry you broke down. Were you able to get it fixed okay?

Hey, it's not a bad idea. The marketing wouldn't be the worst idea.

I hit the lifetime for my Honda Navi drive belt at 11k miles. This actually forced me to upgrade to a better belt because the stock belts were out of stock lol a new belt was less than $10 and I gained 5MPH top speed but lost some acceleration. The material for my box is actually designed for vinyl hahaha its used for real estate signs commonly. It's called coroplast and it's like a plastic cardboard. It works great for food delivery as I can clean it super fast and easy and its waterproof. I have over 1500 deliveries for Doordash and every town I go to I am the only person doing anything like this.

Sorry that happened, but at least you got your money's worth out of it. That's pretty smart. I'm suprised nobody else has copied the idea.

Honestly, you shouldn’t be mad at that traffic light—you should be writing it a thank-you letter. It didn’t delay your DoorDash order; it initiated your spiritual awakening. Give it three more intersections and you won’t even be delivering fries anymore—you’ll be sitting on a mountaintop dispensing street-level wisdom to lost travelers: "He who rushes the ranch shall find only a soggy fry." Embrace your destiny, Master Sage.

Recently, I have been telling the lights thank you preemptively before I roll up and the corresponding green lights have been NSYNC. Gratitude has become my ultimate perpetual motion machine ;P

Look at you, manifesting clear roads through sheer power of gratitude! When the light goes green, you can officially hit them with: "Bye, Bye, Bye." At this rate, other drivers won't need Google Maps anymore—they'll just follow the enlightened DoorDash Sage to bypass all earthly gridlock.

Honestly, I went through all 5 stages of grief and came out for the better. That light basically patched my firmware. I think it may have initiated me into its cult. Have you seen the light?
