Costumbrismo y otras cuestiones de escena [ES-EN]

¡Hola hivers amantes del teatro!

Todos los que siguen frecuentemente mi blog seguramente han notado cómo el mundo teatral forma parte indisoluble de mi vida. También conocerán sobre el privilegio que tenemos los habitantes de Santa Clara al poder contar con una activa vida cultural en diversas expresiones; el teatro, por fortuna, una de ellas que se mantiene dentro de lo más ferviente.

La Compañía Teatral Mejunje ha estado presentando el estreno de la comedia Mejor Vida, bajo la dirección de Ramón Silverio y con dramaturgia de Idania Cordero, y por supuesto, no podía perdérmela.

Reconozco que, el día en que asistí a la puesta en escena, no lo había planificado exactamente. Fue más bien una grata sorpresa pues, por mi despiste habitual, olvidé la fecha que era. Por suerte, estaba bebiendo café en este centro cultural cuando percibo que se abren las puertas de la sala teatral y enseguida me percato del acontecimiento y me introduzco en el interior rápidamente para escoger un asiento lo más privilegiado posible aprovechando la oportunidad y el hecho de que existía fluido eléctrico (algo bastante poco frecuente en nuestro país últimamente).

Mejor Vida constituye una de esas obras que, si desean reír durante aproximadamente una hora, no deben perderse.

Bajo el estética teatral del costumbrismo ,Mejor Vida nos introduce en los conflictos que vivencian una pareja, de señores mayores de edad, que se dedican a intentar "cuidar" a otras personas mayores que viven solos enmascarando el propósito real: quedarse con la vivienda como últimos moradores de la misma.

Al más puro estilo criollo, los conflictos transcurren de manera divertida y orgánica, aún cuando el desenlace de la dramaturgia no es el deseado por los protagonistas.

Siendo sinceros, la puesta en escena no escapa de algún que otro percance rescatable en tiempos óptimos. La iluminación, producto de robos, extravíos inexplicables, y otras cuestiones inherentes a lo inexpugnable, se queda por debajo de lo esperado en cuanto a la calidad que nuestros escenarios nos tiene acostumbrados. A pesar de ello, la función no desmerita lo manifiesto: puro humor criollo.

A ello, mis aplausos, como así van mis abrazos a cada uno de ustedes hasta que el telón de fondo vuelva a ocupar el espacio.

Those who frequently follow my blog have surely noticed how the world of theater is an inseparable part of my life. You are also likely aware of the privilege we residents of Santa Clara enjoy in having such an active cultural life across various disciplines—with theater, fortunately, remaining one of the most vibrant.

The Mejunje Theater Company has been presenting the premiere of the comedy Mejor Vida, directed by Ramón Silverio with a script by Idania Cordero—and, of course, I couldn't miss it.

I admit that I hadn't exactly planned to attend the performance that day. It was actually a pleasant surprise; due to my usual absent-mindedness, I had forgotten the date. Fortunately, I was having coffee at the cultural center when I noticed the theater doors opening; realizing what was happening, I quickly went inside to snag the best possible seat—seizing the opportunity and taking advantage of the fact that there was electricity (something rather rare in our country lately).

Mejor Vida is one of those productions that you shouldn't miss if you want to laugh for about an hour.

Employing the theatrical aesthetic of costumbrismo, Mejor Vida introduces us to the conflicts faced by an elderly couple who dedicate themselves to "caring" for other seniors living alone—all while masking their true objective: to secure the home for themselves as its final occupants.

In true local style, the conflicts unfold in an entertaining and organic manner, even when the dramatic outcome is not what the protagonists desired.

To be honest, the production didn't escape a few mishaps—though they were manageable enough. The lighting—compromised by theft, inexplicable losses, and other unavoidable issues—fell short of the high quality we have come to expect from our stages. Despite this, the performance delivered exactly what it promised: pure, homegrown humor.

I offer my applause and a warm embrace to each of you, until the curtain rises once more.
