Danger in Beauty
Beauty is one wonderful thing nature grants. Everything that possesses this quality is loved, welcomed, embraced, and desired. Anything that lacks beauty suffers desertion, scorn, and neglect. No one derives pleasure in associating with such; nothing positive seems connected to things deemed unbeautiful. And in a strange way, they have their peace—untouched, unseen, and unnoticed.
Nonetheless, beauty comes with its own problems, which is our focus.
To be beautiful is to be watched, examined and desired, sometimes obsessively. Beauty draws eyes, but not always gentle ones. It invites attention, and attention is not always kind. It can turn admiration into possession(something to own or control), appreciation into envy, desire into danger.
Beauty often suffer unrealistic expectations. A beautiful person or thing is assumed to be perfect in other ways—wise, pure, harmless. But beauty is no guarantee of goodness.
Moreso, many things and people are loved only for how they appear. Once beauty fades, so does the love, the interest and value which creates pressure—an unending chase to preserve appearance, to please the gaze of others, to remain desirable at all costs.
Also attractive individuals may be pursued for their looks rather than their humanity, making them vulnerable to toxic relationships or exploitation.
Finally, beauty can breed resentment. It causes rivalry, insecurity, and even cruelty in others. The beautiful may suffer silently—used, misunderstood, envied, or even harmed, simply for being pleasing to the eye.
So while beauty is a gift, it is not a simple one. It is not only a blessing but a responsibility and sometimes even a curse. It must be carried wisely.
