THE LOVE STORY THAT BIRTHED BLESSING

In the beautiful city of Kaduna, famously referred to as the Crocodile City, there lived an astonishing girl named Eve. Eve was in her final year in secondary school; she was beautiful and the most brilliant girl in her class. She was also best in mathematics, and she was always taken to represent her school in every competition locally, regionally and nationwide. She will come out the best in the competition.

Eve had gotten a full scholarship to study medicine at a prestigious university in the country, she just needed to write her final exams and be done with secondary school before proceeding for her scholarship, what no one knew was that Eve was pregnant and didn't find out until later, she started withdrawing from her family not knowing what to do and how her family will take it.

At the summer of the last holiday before resuming for her final year in secondary school, Eve travelled for a school exhibition, there she met a handsome man who worked as a cab driver in the city she visited, at once they both knew the wanted each other and from the first word that came out of his mouth there was a strong connection and a lot of smiles between them. His name was Adam. Adam was from a wealthy home. Still, he ran from home because he never wanted to work at the family company, he believed he was up to the task to make it on his own without the help of anyone, at the time he met with Eve, he was struggling as a cab driver, paying returns at the end of every week to the owner of the vehicle he uses for work, leaving him little to nothing for his savings as well as his wellbeing. Adam had planned only to focus on building his future, ignoring every distraction, especially that from the opposite gender, since he was not ready for anything serious at the time.

Meeting Eve was a different story entirely. Adam was in love and couldn’t control his emotions; it was love at first sight for both Adam and Eve. They spoke through their trip, laughing together joyously and at the end of the journey, they exchanged contact information so they could continue their conversation later on. Their love grew so fast, and was striving, and before she left the city, a seed of their affection was already growing in her womb.

On a beautiful morning, engulfed with the light of the sun, the sweet chirpings of birds, and the cold morning breeze that made the atmosphere fresh, Eve’s mother will call on Eve for some questioning, she had notice some behavioral changes as well as some physical changes, Eve was very close with her mother and will never hide anything from her, she will tell her the complete details of how her day went and whatever activities she had engaged in and because of this, her mother had always trusted her at all times.

At first, she noticed a strange excitement with Eve on her return from her journey, Eve will always hold a bright smile on her face, but there was something different about her smile, she was glowing as if to say her skin was rubbed with oil, Eve hadn't said anything to her mum, but her mum knew and felt a difference with Eve, she was her cherished daughter and as such, things like this could not escape her for long. Her mother called her Mama, which means mother in the Hausa language.

Mama, Mama, Mama, her mother called. Eve, who was suffering from morning sickness, was hiding in her room, but at the sound of her mother’s voice, she hurriedly went out, greeting her with a forceful smile. Good morning, mother, Eve replied. Good morning, my daughter, her mother responded with a smile. There is something I have been meaning to talk to you about, the mother continued. Ever since you came back from your journey, I have noticed a change in your behaviour and in your appearance. So, I will ask you this once, because I trust you. And I expect nothing but the truth from you.

Eve, who was already scared because she had come to believe that her mother was aware of what was going on with her, due to her mother’s keen observant nature. At this time, the only choice Eve had was to tell the mother the truth, which was what she did. Her mother was disappointed with her for not trusting her with the truth. It was a mistake that would ruin her future. A girl who had a lot of prospects had fallen into the hands of the wrong guy, who had deceived her and had ruined her future, her mother thought to herself.

Adam was washing his car very early that morning, preparing to go out for work, when he saw the love of his life and a strange woman coming in with luggage. He was stunned and confused at the same time. Deep down, he was excited to see Eve as he couldn’t hide his excitement, he smiled at her which she returned a smile sheepishly, he greeted them well and welcome them to his house, their culture has made it this way that a girl who gets pregnant for a man she is not married to is to be wedded automatically without any need for a ceremony of any form, as such the mother had no choice rather than to take her daughter to her husband’s home with immediate effect. It was news to Adam as Eve never told him about the pregnancy despite keeping in touch every day.

After the mother had told him about why they were there, he apologized sincerely to the mother and promised to take care of her daughter, also making sure she goes back to school when she was able to. Her mother saw the sincerity in his eyes, as she was always a good judge of character and had to believe and trust that her daughter was in good hands.

Adam, seeing all this happening so fast, was determined to make his life and the life of his beautiful wife better. He believed that it was all God’s plan for their life, and he was ready to accept the child as a blessing and not a mistake they had made.

It will come to pass that because of this mistake in Adam and Eve's lives, they grew to become very wealthy, as Adam kept his promise to his mother-in-law, taking good care of his wife, through the blessing of God. On the day the child was born, Adam received an appointment with the World Bank. Since he had his master's degree and other certifications, he was offered a high position and a very good salary, receiving his payment in foreign currency. Everything else continued to work well for them, as if to say that the child came as a blessing. And because of that, the child was named “Albarka”, which means blessing in Hausa.

After the child was old enough to start school and be left alone, Eve went back to school, with the support of her husband sponsoring her through her studies as a medical student. She graduated at the top of her class and was the best graduate in the history of the school. If she had gone to school earlier, she might not have been able to afford a comfortable living, which might have affected her performance in school. She had all she needed in her back and core. It will be known that the couple opened a foundation to sponsor girls who made such mistakes as she did when she was younger, standing for those whose story might have a different turn from her own story.
