A lot of people try to give a good first impression because they have come to believe that it gives others a vivid idea of who they are and how they should be pictured and treated. A person like me doesn’t usually get deceived by first impressions; sometimes I perceive the aura the other person is giving, and it is enough for me to say if the person has a good or a bad character.
Giving an instance with my present supervisor in the office, before he came, my supervisor was working under a different unit of the company. The first time we met, he was all nice, which was probably because he had understood that he would need my assistance regularly. While my other colleagues were seeing him as a great guy, I will always tell them that he was not as great as he might have presented himself to be, and because I had no prove of my statement, I needed time to justify what I have said to them, and as time will have it, his job roll was change and he was transferred to supervise my unit in the office. As time went by, others would come to understand what a green snake he was hiding under the green grass and would remember what I had told them about him earlier.
Since people try so hard to give a good first impression to cover whatever bad character they possess, time usually sets them out, showing the world who they really are.
I don’t live trying to impress others, as it always calls for one to constantly be on a self-monitor. This puts me not bothered about first impressions, showing who I am without filters, not misleading you with some performance of first impression, whether you will like me or not is more of your business than it is mine. Living to impress is exhausting and excruciating. When you stop worrying about how others perceive you, you save a lot of emotional energy that others waste to maintain face.

I think developing a good character and showing up that way that you are without the need to be artificial is important. First impressions can be a way to hide who people truly are. It can be a great tool for someone but a deceitful one as well.

Lately I don't deal with first impressions anymore, some people fake it at first and you start to see something else later.
Time indeed reveals all things. Sometimes people have to fake their identity to be accepted until they gain ground and you won't blame them, our world makes it look like if you don't have people's validation, you are missing out. Well, I don't really take first impression to heart, I allow time to define people.
So true, even if you act it or is just pretending...time will always tell at the end of the day. Character/attitude they say is like smoke, it cannot be hidden or kept forever.
