CLIMATE CHANGE THE SILENT KILLER OF HUMAN HEALTH

Hello and welcome to the healthy-bee weekly prompt, week 7, where we will be discussing the topic "Is climate change the greatest health treat of all time?".

According to the United Nations report, Climate change refers to the long-term shifts in temperature and weather patterns. Such shifts can be natural due to changes in the sun's activity or large volcanic eruptions. But since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal and gas link.

The resulting effects of climate change include rising temperatures, melting polar ice, storms, declining biodiversity, rising sea levels, and drought, among others, according to the above study. This has a strong impact on our health and also the production of crops.

We can see an instance where climate change has affected our crop production, using the crop "Ginger" as an example, for a period of two years now, the production of ginger has strongly declined as a result of climate change, people farming ginger tend to cultivate little to nothing during harvest as a result of some disease affecting the production of ginger, a lot of farmers have fallen deep down into serious debt since they usually borrow to cultivate a large plot of land to get a greater harvest.

Temperature conditions have also changed drastically, resulting in serious heat during the day and even at night; people tend not to have a good night's rest, which is seriously affecting their health in general.

Heat has a serious impact on our health, causing a series of sicknesses; in recent times, a lot of children in the area where I reside have developed one heat sickness or another, having serious irritation on their skin like heat rash due to the extreme heat, which has been seriously overlooked; solutions to the extreme increase in temperature could start with the complete reduction of the use of fossil fuel and gas, replacing this with the use of renewable energy sources to power all items and equipment we power using coal and gas. The impact of changing climate can also be seen to cause respiratory problems or even worsen underlying respiratory challenges.

In conclusion, climate change has a great effect on human health and agriculture; it has resulted in heat-related illnesses and has the potential to worsen respiratory challenges. Quick action should be taken to advocate for sustainable global health.

The skin irritation caused by heat because of climate change is one of the reasons we should all join hands to help our climate. By minding the activities we do
