Why a special card now?

One of the questions that players may have with the arrival of this special card is: “Why now? Why not before?”. Well, I believe that the timing for the release of important cards was very well thought out. Recently, there was a piece of content in which I commented on the sales of the Arcane Conclave pre-sale. The title stated that the sales were a success, selling more than $1 million in DEC and Credits packages. However, the success was even greater, because nearing the end of the pre-sale, this amount almost doubled quickly, reaching more than $2M in sales.

I believe that this huge success of the Arcane Conclave pre-sale may have been the reason that the Splinterlands team considered releasing a series of important cards. It is worth remembering that in addition to the recent announcement of Yaba's Pickle, there was also a previous post about Archmage Yabanius that references Yabapmatt as well.

Another reason for the release of such important cards as these is also due to the new rarities of Arcane and Black Foil cards, making these special cards even rarer and more collectible. This is something that has not happened in Splinterlands for a long time, since for years there were only Normal Foil and Gold Foil cards. Releasing these cards in the past would not have had the same impact as doing so during the Arcane Conclave set, which shows that the timing is crucial to release a card of someone so fundamental to Splinterlands, which we will discover more about below.

Yaba’s Pickle Release!

To give some context for those who don't know, Yabapmatt and Aggroed were the founders of Splinterlands, so this card is one of the most important and unique drops for the game. There are three ways to get your hands on a copy of these cards, which will cost 150 DEC or Credits, and one of them could have a positive impact on the game's economy. The first will be through an SPS Snapshop, allowing players to purchase 1 card for every 1000 SPS staked. The next will be a raffle for 50 Gold Foil Arcane, one per day, with each title costing 200 Aura, 10 Vouchers and 200 DEC. Finally, there will be an auction for 20 Black Foil Arcane, costing 1000 Aura, 50 Vouchers and 500 DEC.

For those who are curious to know more about the stats and abilities, Yaba's Pickle will have at 1 BCX 2 speed, 1 shield and 5 HP, it will also have 4 different abilities, the first being Dodge obtained at level 3, Shield at lvl 5, Slow at lvl 8 and finally Heal at lvl 10. lvl 10. I believe the reason Heal only came at the last level is that if it came earlier, the card could become very strong since it only costs 4 mana.

It's interesting to think about the possible impacts that the release of a new card, which at first might even seem like a meme, could have on the game's economy. Believe me, this “meme” could be very beneficial for Splinterlands and especially for the SPS Game Token, if this happens again in the future. The first impact is that including the SPS requirement for purchases could make players start to increase their stakes, avoid withdrawing and bring more utility to the Token. Furthermore, the use of aura in sales brings utility to a resource produced by the lands.

Uma das dúvidas que os jogadores podem ter com a chegada dessa carta especial é: “Porque agora? Porque não antes?”. Bom acredito que o timing para o lançamento de cartas importantes foi muito bem pensado. Recentemente, teve um conteúdo feito em que comentei sobre as vendas da pre-sale conclave arcana, no título estava que as vendas foram um sucesso, vendendo mais de 1 milhão de dólares em pacotes em DEC e Credits. Entretanto, o sucesso foi ainda maior, porque chegando próximo do final da pre-sale esse valor quase dobrou rapidamente, chegando à mais de $2M em vendas.

Acredito que esse sucesso gigantesco da pre-sale de Conclave Arcana, pode ter sido o motivo da equipe do Splinterlands ter considerado realizar o lançamento de uma série de cartas importantes. Vale lembrar, que além do recente anúncio do Yaba’s Pickle houve também um post anteriormente sobre o Archmage Yabanius que faz referência ao Yabapmatt também.

Ainda, outro motivo para o lançamento de cartas tão importantes como essas se deve também às novas raridades de carta Arcane e Black Foil, deixando essas cartas especiais ainda mais raras e colecionáveis. É algo que não acontece há bastante tempo no splinterlands já que por anos houveram apenas as Normal foil e Gold Foil. Lançar essas cartas no passado não teriam o mesmo impacto de fazer isso durante a coleção Conclave Arcana, o que mostra que o momento é fundamental para lançar uma carta de alguém tão fundamental para o splinterlands, que vamos descobrir mais a seguir.

Para quem está curioso para saber mais sobre os stats e habilidades, o Yaba’s Pickle terá no 1 BCX 2 de speed, 1 de shield e 5 de HP, ainda terá 4 habilidades diferentes, sendo a primeira Dodge obtida no nível 3, o Shield no lvl 5, o Slow no lvl 8 e por fim o Heal no lvl 10. Acredito que o motivo do Heal ter vindo só no último nível é que se ele viesse antes, a carta poderia se tornar muito forte já que custa apenas 4 de mana.

Acredite, esse “meme” pode ser bem benéfico para o Splinterlands e principalmente para o token do Jogo SPS, se isso se repetir no futuro. O primeiro impacto é que colocar para a compra o requisito de SPS, pode fazer com que os jogadores comecem a aumentar os seus stakes, evitem retirar e traz mais utilidade para o Token. Ainda, o uso de aura nas vendas, traz utilidade para um recurso produzido pelas lands.
