Peter Schiff says Bitcoin is the opposite of gold.

I don’t think Bitcoin needs to be gold as it's being compared by people. I like gold for sure, although I don't own any, but I like Bitcoin the more which I own a little of. They do different things for me, and I’m fine with that. I’ve never looked at my Bitcoin and said, this should be a gold coin because I hold it for other reasons.

I remember when I first bought Bitcoin. It was late at night, and I had just read something about inflation which at that time I didn’t even know much about it, I just knew the prices at the store kept getting worse. Gold felt like it was for rich people or people who know too much. Bitcoin felt close because It was on my phone and I could buy a little. I didn’t need a vault or call a broker, I just needed internet and some guts, and there it is.

Peter Schiff says Bitcoin is the opposite of gold.

I don’t think that’s true and this blog is not to argue why, I just don’t think it matters. When gold went up and Bitcoin went down, I didn’t panic because that's the way of the market, things go up and down. I don’t want both things to move the same way, no that would be boring. I want people to have more choices to pick for their own reasons. I see people online saying Bitcoin is faith, as in we believe it's value and that's why it is. Okay, but so is money. I work hard for paper. Guess what, that paper works because we all agree it does. Bitcoin is no different. I know it’s just numbers, but so is everything else now, even my bank account is numbers on my screen which I'm made to believe is there, but those who understand the financial system knows it's not 100 percent there.

I’ve seen gold in my uncle’s drawer. It’s shiny, heavy and very pretty, but I’ve never used it. Bitcoin, I use, and I’m not trying to compare them like twins. I don't even see them as brothers, to me they’re more like neighbors. Gold is definitely the older citizen and more respected due to how long it's been in existence. Its been there since the earth was formed. But if I'm too compare a little, Bitcoin feels more alive, It grows, it moves, and people care about it. Thats what basically tells me it’s something.

I really enjoyed your perspective on Bitcoin and gold! You make a great point that they don't need to be compared as competitors - they can peacefully coexist as different assets serving different purposes. Your personal story about first buying Bitcoin resonates too - that accessibility is exactly what makes crypto so powerful. The neighbor analogy is perfect - gold is the wise elder while Bitcoin is the energetic newcomer next door. Both have value in their own ways, and like you said, variety makes the financial world more interesting. Thanks for sharing such thoughtful reflections!
