France - Strolling Through Paris: Notre Dame And The Seine

20250502_103023.jpg

Hello there!

Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries, such as Japan, Maldives, Indonesia and US, it's probably time to share about my recent Europe trip! If you are keen to find out which countries and cities I visited, you can read the quick summary here.

There is actually a back story behind this trip. My friend and I planned this trip a few years back and it was supposed to take place in Apr 2020, but as most of you would know, Covid 19 pandemic came and we had to cancel the trip due to all the travel restrictions and health advisories. So we planned for this trip in 2025 and it finally materialised!

Documenting all my entries for this 2025 Europe Trip:
Turkey - An Istanbul Adventure: From Blue Mosque to Bazaars
France - Exploring The Parisian Icons: Effiel Tower And Arc De Triomphe
France - Wandering Through Paris: The Louvre and Jardin des Tuileries

We left the Louvre and Jardin des Tuileries towards our next destination, which was another popular tourist attraction, the Notre Dame Cathedral. Since it was still early in the morning, we thought why not take a stroll through Paris and just soak in all the random sights and sounds.

This is the Seine River and the museum opposite is Musee d'Orsay. Just like all museums in Paris, there seems to be endless queues outside. Fortunately, I am not so much of a museum person, and I would find something else to do instead of queueing for hours to enter a museum.

A close up of Musee d'Orsay as we approached the building!

Here is another museum, it's the National Museum of the Legion of Honor and Orders of Chivalry. Not too sure what's inside but the architecture looked beautiful!

There were a lot of these structures and status in Paris and it's interesting to see the emphasis of history by the locals.

Another calm and peaceful look at the Seine River.

This is the Institut de France, which is an academic institution. Every single building just looks so amazing!

We were approaching Notre Dame, and here you could see Île de la Cité, which is an island in the middle of the Seine River. Notre Dame interestingly sits on this island.

More statues! There is lengthy description in this one.

Beside Notre Dame, there's another grand chapel called Sainte Chapelle. The queues were really long because everyone was there to see their beautiful interior glass windows. We didn't manage to get the tickets so we could admire from the outside.

And finally, we were here! Notre Dame Cathedral! Just look at the number of people around here! It was so so crowded and the level of crowd is probably similar to the Effiel Tower. I think the religious people would appreciate these places of worship much more than a free thinker like me. Nonetheless, it's still amazing to see these architecture and admire them.

We took a lunch break before we continued our stroll and here's another place of worship. This is the the Church of Saint Etienne du Mont. Once again, the architecture was just so amazing!

Another one of those grand buildings, not too sure what this was though. Anyone can decipher those words?

There's also the Pantheon in Paris - I think the more popular one is in Rome but we could also visit the one in Paris. Lots of people, mostly students, chilling in this area. It felt less touristy as the surroundings were quieter.

That summed up our second day in Paris and it's another awesome day of sightseeing by foot and really soaking in the various sights and sounds. Many different places, be it museums or places of worship, or just gazing at the peaceful Seine River. Notre Dame has definitely got to be the highlight, and all in all, a great experience in Paris.

So that's all I have today! Have you been to Paris or France? Let me know in the comments below!
