The Role of Technology in Shaping the Future of Learning

In today's world, education is extremely important, and those who don't study are at a disadvantage. Everyone says that studying is crucial, and technology has advanced education significantly. Today, we are surrounded by technology from the moment we wake up until we go to bed. Phones, laptops, the internet, and apps are no longer luxuries; they have become necessities. And the biggest beneficiary of all this technology is education. Education, which was once limited to classrooms, blackboards, and books, has been transformed by technology. Now, students can learn from anywhere. A student can solve any problem in any subject, from any location. If they don't understand a mathematical problem, they can simply go to ChatGPT, input the problem, and it will provide a step-by-step solution. It's so advanced that students can even study and learn without a teacher.

In the past, students had to travel for hours, changing buses and rickshaws, just to get to their study centers. This was because there weren't many good facilities for education. But in today's digital age, students can do everything related to their studies from the comfort of their homes. They can attend online classes, and the same teacher will be there to solve their doubts. Everything is virtual, and this is a massive improvement. Education has become much more accessible and beneficial today. Previously, these opportunities were mostly available in big cities and major centers, but now even students in small towns can study from anywhere with limited resources, just needing a phone and a good internet connection. This is a wonderful development, and it's all thanks to the progress the world is making.

Online private platforms like YouTube, Unacademy, Byju's, and Khan Academy have made learning incredibly open and accessible. Today, a student can learn almost anything with minimal fees. All you need is a smartphone and a good internet connection. In this way, technology has significantly reduced the education gap that existed before. Previously, institutions charged lakhs of rupees in fees because they were providing infrastructure and accommodation for students. Not all parents could afford such expenses. But today, with online classes, these institutions are also benefiting, and since their costs are lower, they are able to offer courses at much cheaper rates. Nowadays, you can find excellent courses for as little as ₹300-₹400, which is a great advantage.

Not every student is the same, and not everyone learns at the same pace. In a traditional classroom system, the teacher teaches at a fixed speed, which leaves many students behind or bored. Technology solves this problem with online courses and recorded classes. The most important thing is that if you miss a class or are unable to attend a live session for any reason, you will receive a recorded class and lecture that you can access later. You can study at your own pace. For example, if you study a topic but don't understand it, you can review that section again. If a topic seems easy, you can skip ahead. This flexibility is incredibly helpful for students today because teachers in the past didn't stop for individual students; they had to keep the entire class moving forward, so they rushed through the syllabus. But now, everything can be done at a more comfortable pace.

Technology isn't just good for students; it's also a very powerful tool for teachers. Teachers have become much smarter. Previously, teachers had to do a lot of research to write a paper or create a presentation. But today, with smart boards, online presentations, online assignments, and digital tools, teaching has become much easier and more effective. Online tests and learning management systems are readily available, saving teachers a lot of time. This allows teachers to focus more on their students and improve their performance. They can easily identify which students are weak in which topics and which are strong, thanks to the excellent educational tools and strategies available today. Teachers can access a student's complete academic history, allowing them to personalize their teaching strategies and provide individual attention to each student.

The recent COVID-19 pandemic, which led to lockdowns everywhere, disrupted education. However, students didn't let their studies stop. They started online classes, and these virtual classes made education possible anytime, anywhere. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, education was possible thanks to technology. Online classes provided students with something they always needed, such as digital classrooms like Google Classroom, where they could listen to their teachers virtually from anywhere. This proves that technology has become a cornerstone of education.
