Across The Cryptoverse #73 - Community Growth And Unifying Ethereum
Intent-based systems have revolutionized cross-chain interactions by abstracting the complexities and time constraints associated with traditional bridges.
Across keeps building, and everyone puts effort towards a common goal... unifying Ethereum!
The "Unify Ethereum" rallying cry echoed throughout ETH Denver this year, but beyond the catchphrase lies a pressing challenge! The ugly truth is that Ethereum is fragmented.
Ethereum’s fragmentation isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s a major obstacle to the ecosystem’s long-term success.
Solving for fungibility, latency, cost, security, and sovereignty is critical to unlocking Ethereum’s full potential. ERC-7683 is unifying Ethereum.
The core innovation of Across lies in its intent-based framework, which allows users to specify desired outcomes—such as token swaps or DeFi deposits—without detailing the intricate steps to achieve them.
This approach streamlines cross-chain interactions and enhances user experience by removing the need to navigate complex bridging mechanisms
What makes it even better is the vibrant community, a place where the rangers are enjoying the power of intents!
The community also deserves a gold medal, and this is why we constantly organize amazing events for all Across Rangers!
Fantasy Football always been a crowd pleaser, and the CEC led community calls were always full of good vibes and alpha!
The March call welcomed Hart on the stage, as he shared some spoilers and chatted about how Across will unify a fragmented Ethereum!
What's new? You can now start bridging and explore the new Lens Chain, with Across providing secure, fast, and cost-effective crosschain liquidity right out of the box! The SocialFi revolution is upon us!
What have we learned from Web2? Users expect experiences to load in two seconds or less, and anything slower leads to abandonment. Intents enable Web3 builders to deliver 2-second experiences at scale, and Across users will always enjoy the best experience!
To unify Ethereum, we need to solve five key challenges: asset fungibility, latency, cost, security, and sovereignty.
Across is leading the charge with a practical, efficient approach to interoperability that eliminates friction, making Ethereum feel like one unified system rather than a collection of siloed chains.
Moving assets across chains can feel like a maze. You’re often stuck dealing with wrapped tokens, mint-and-burn mechanics, and scattered liquidity pools.
It’s clunky, confusing, and leads to a fragmented experience where you’re never quite sure what version of a token you’re getting!
Anons will often end up doing extra swaps, juggling different assets, and managing a portfolio that doesn’t make much sense. For developers, it’s no better.
Supporting multiple chains means integrating with various token standards and maintaining complex, fragmented liquidity pools just to make things work.
Gas fees are one of the biggest blockers to seamless crosschain activity. For smaller transfers, the cost of bridging can sometimes be higher than the value being moved. When that happens, the whole system breaks down and no one wants to pay more than they’re sending.
This isn’t just a user pain point. It also makes life harder for developers trying to onboard new users or support niche assets. And when high costs slow things down, the entire ecosystem misses out on growth and innovation.
Across solves this by cutting out the expensive parts. Instead of using costly onchain messages for every single transaction, Across uses a more efficient system with batched settlement and optimistic verification. That means fewer costs behind the scenes—and big savings for users.
In practice, this brings fees down to just a few cents per transfer. In some cases, the cost is so low it’s effectively free. That opens the door for everyone—from DeFi power users to casual explorers—to move assets across chains without thinking twice.
With Across is always financially efficient to bridge assets, and was almost free when the OP rewards were implemented. The users enjoyed a 95% fee rebate and received $OP tokens based on the transfers they've done!
With the campaign concluding, I went to claim my last batch of $OP rewards! Paying cents to move assets crosschain was nice, but earning $OP on top of that was amazing!
Look at those amazing stats... with 200,000 volume to Optimism through 250 transfers! All of them delivered secure and in few seconds, adding 14.83 $OP tokens to the bounty!
Crosschain is wonderful! Crosschain... not cross-chain! Or are you one of those waiting for the week-end?
As the CEC (Community Essentials Committee) ended it's term at the start of April, it was a good time to review the activity we delivered over 18 months of duty!
We can talk about integrations, the Publish0x writing completion, community growth and a plethora of successful campaigns!
However, the one I am proud is the addition of opACX as a tip token on Discord. Ethereum mainnet fees weren't always as low, and having the option to withdraw tokens on Optimism simplified the job for the rangers. The tokens they won in events were moved onchain cheaper!
It was an amazing journey, and the job is not completed! I am proud to work towards unifying Ethereum, and proud to help chads and degen use the best tools in crypto!
Also onboarded frens' and shared a nice stash of tokens in this journey, summing up to over 14,000 ACX tokens only in the Across discord!
Across flips this experience on its head. Instead of forcing users to interact with the complexity, we built a system around Intents.
You simply say what you want, like moving ETH from Arbitrum to Optimism, and Across handles the rest. You get exactly what you asked for, on the destination chain, without the usual crosschain chaos.
What makes it powerful is its flexibility. Across supports a broad range of tokens, from standard ERC-20s to OFTs, without imposing limits. And with an average bridging time of just 2 seconds, it moves as fast as the space demands.
