What I Wish I Knew When I Started Hive

Hello everyone in the India United Community and Hive in general. I’m happy to share this because Hive has really taught me a lot since I joined. I may not know everything yet, but I believe these few points can help any new person who wants to grow here

First thing I’ll say is this: take your time to understand how Hive works. Hive is different from regular social media. It’s a community platform, so you need to understand the value of real connections. Don’t just come to post and disappear. Spend some time reading other people’s posts, learning how they write, and how they interact.

Secondly, be yourself. Don’t try to be like another person or write like a robot. Just write from your heart. Even if your English is not perfect, it’s better you write your own thoughts. People on Hive appreciate honesty and realness more than perfection. I no go lie, when I started, I dey shy small, but I later realise say being real na the best.

Another advice I’d give is to join the right communities. Look for the ones that match what you enjoy like lifestyle, motivation, food, or even your country-based ones. When you find your community, stay active and consistent. That’s how people will start noticing you.

Also, engagement matters a lot. Don’t just focus on posting your content. Try to comment on other people’s posts too. Drop meaningful comments, not just “nice one” or “well done.” Let people feel your presence. It’s through engagement that I personally started connecting with others.

One thing I didn’t understand at first was the use of tags. But now I know tags help your post to reach the right people. So, try to use good and relevant tags not just random ones. Look at what others are using and learn from them.

And please, don’t focus on the money first. Yes, we all want to earn, but if that’s all you’re chasing, you go tire fast. Hive rewards patience, consistency, and value. Just enjoy the process, and the reward go show when the time reach.

Lastly, be patient and keep going. When I started, I sometimes felt like nobody was seeing my posts. But I continued, improved my writing, and stayed active. Slowly, people started supporting me. So don’t rush the process.

To all new users take it easy, be real, connect with others, and just keep learning. Hive is a beautiful place once you understand it. Welcome!

Thanks for reading
