HIVE Rewards in Future, Dev talk, HBD Savings, and More .:. Recap of Hive Humpday Hangout SE #13 (February 26, 2025)

I told you that you should attend these "Special Edition" shows... Now you missed a lot of fun and there is no recording for this type of #HHHLive! It is lost forever, and locked in the brains of those who attended it... 😃 And we had a nice participation and covered many different topics!

Sometimes, people are too shy to talk, and even if this edition is "freestyle", despite being eager to ask questions, it's hard to start the ball rolling... Luckily, we had a few interesting comments at the announcement post for the show and that served well as a "topic-opener"! Speaking of announcement posts, it's hard to do them for Special Edition shows as there is no specific topic, but if I don't do it, then people won't know if it will be held... The previous time I didn't do the announcement post and we had just a few Hivians... In conclusion, I have to do them... 😃

So, the first topic was a reflection on the comment by @davideownzall, where he said:

It would be cool to talk about what will happen in the future with the slow cut in hive rewards over the years (I can't find the article but like by 2035 or something rewards for blogging will be tiny)

We discussed that and compared it with BTC, or other blockchains where is a similar situation and you can see the inflation going down... As the scarcity is higher, the token value goes up... Of course, if there are fundamentals around the chain... On the other side, inflation is lower, and fewer rewards are distributed, which means that it is harder to acquire new tokens! A good reminder for those who think that it would be easier to buy tokens in a year or two, or more...

@jza came on the microphone sharing his view on inflation as a part of the "game"... He also shared his view of HIVE as a stablecoin, as it occasionally doesn't follow other cryptos... In the meantime, @felixxx compared HIVE with faucets, as it looks so easy to accumulate tokens nowadays, but that doesn't mean it will be in the future!

He asked a question about the HBD savings APR, so we dwelled into discussion about that too... How it was at 20%, chasing the APR of collapsed LUNA, how it was changed to 15%, and how it can be changed in the future...

We had a long development talk about many things... Starting with innovation, adding features to the second layer, building apps on top of the chain... How HIVE needs more documentation, if we want to attract mode developers from the outside... Maybe AI can help us with documentation?

@jza shared his experience from other chains where they would record themselves coding stuff, sharing more tutorials, and small scripts... Just short titbits that can show the HIVE potential... @nathalie-s mentioned that @borniet is doing some development on HIVE, so we called him out, but he was busy "developing" spaghetti... 😂 Jokes aside, he has just begun with coding, and we wish him all the luck in that!

Speaking of calling out, when @achim03 appeared in the audience, I had to call him on the mic to share his story about the faucets as we mentioned him at the beginning... He was running some faucets and shared the story with us... How tiny those tokens looked a few years ago and how big some of them grew!

We changed topics many times, going from a talk about Dan Larimer to a talk about surviving some harsh market conditions like the one we have these days... @felixxx even came up with the main "survival" rules:

1. Only buy things YOU UNDERSTAND
2. Only sell, when you are sure that you can buy it back for cheaper later

I was free to add an additional rule to these two:

Do not invest more than you can afford to lose...

It is the old one, but I didn't hear it lately and it shouldn't be forgotten!

For the end of the show, @foxkoit promised that he would come in voice when HIVE reached $1! It is now written in the chain, just for the record! 😃
