A new player should keep playing and use the rewards to build his deck. It may take some time but it's part of the fun in playing Splinterlands.

Start by acquiring cards that are strong in the current meta. Focus on leveling up these cards to improve their effectiveness in battles. With consistent effort, a new player might reach a competitive level within a few months, but achieving the absolute highest level could take longer, depending on the player's commitment and strategy.
