The Meaning of Christmas to Me

Christmas is a time set aside to celebrate the death of our Lord Jesus Christ, fully aware of the suffering He endured on the cross and also fully assured that He rose again and did not die in vain.

In this content, I would love, in my own voice and perspective, to explain what Christmas, often abbreviated as Xmas, is, as the prompt mandated that we do. To me, Christmas has a deep meanings. First, I see the cross. I also visualise Jesus carrying the cross.

Now, what does this cross mean to me? The cross represents the torments, pains, mockerys, and crucifixion that I face in life. We can try to visualise how Jesus carried the cross for every one of us. I do not think that I can fathom that level pain. He was pierced with nails on both hands and legs for us all.

As much as we believe in Him, we are saved...

Jesus, out of love, died for us all. He carried all our burdens for He truly cares. This tells us the perfect definition of love. The Christ kind of love. In fact, Jesus’ kind of love is the realest love that one can experience.

So, how do I celebrate Christmas? Apart from the vibes in December, new dresses, clothing, and all, Christmas is a time to share our gifts.

Do not forget that Jesus is love; similarly, there is love in sharing. In my vicinity, we share food. My mum specially chooses pounded yam on Xmas Day, my dad’s favourite. That is love.

On the first day of January, she prepares fried rice and chicken, our favourite. We eat it with love. Additionally, my father gives a motivational speech for the new year.

However, Christmas is a remembrance of Christ’s love for everyone, irrespective of religion or background.
The death and resurrection of Christ brought the Holy Spirit— God with us. We do not have to fear, fully assured of Christ’s presence. The God-kind of love is worth celebrating.

On Christmas Day, family and friends from far and near gather in oneness and love. For this Christmas, have fun and share with one another, fully knowing that Jesus loves us and He died for us. I pray that the Almighty God provides for us all and gives journey mercies to everyone, especially those coming from far to visit their love ones. To my siblings, I am missing you all. Come home sooner.
