Who here has those "cleaning robots" that roam around the house, sweeping and mopping the floor? Very useful, right? And a programmable coffee maker? I've had one. It's so good to wake up to the smell of coffee throughout the house, synchronized with the alarm clock. I've also had a bread maker, that aroma of warm bread 😋. Pure delights and practicality.
Nowadays, we already have several automated devices, some semi-autonomous, or "smart" (usually meaning they can be operated via Wi-Fi).

Now imagine all these devices integrating into the so-called "internet of things" and, even more, operated by artificial intelligence, a "super Alexa", with whom you give orders and it executes, or even better, it learns from your habits and does everything according to your tastes. I believe we are not far from the popularization of this type of environment, at relatively reasonable prices for the global "middle class".
One of my "silly dreams", as I joke...

I have no problem with household chores. I'm not very meticulous 🫣, but I wash dishes, put clothes in the machine and hang them out (the machine washes them, right? 😉), sweep the floor, scrub, mop, dust the ceiling... Whatever it takes to keep the environment minimally clean and organized.

But sometimes, I get lazy. Or it compromises my commitments. For example: Sunday is my laundry day (I live in a kind of rooming house, a large house where the owner rents out some rooms, suites, and kitnets, a delightful place to live), so I end up choosing it as cleaning day and spend the morning and part of the afternoon involved with it. I could be enjoying the city, walking in Brasília's various parks, helping with social work done by a spiritual center I know and have participated in a few times, but I couldn't commit within the weekly task schedule.
An automated house would allow me to perform these activities that I currently cannot fit into my life.

But let's go "a little" further, into a future where we will see the popularization of domestic robots: an "entity", a "thinking being", an "artifact", however you wish to understand it. It might even become a "family member", as many domestic helpers - increasingly rare and inaccessible to the middle class - are still considered today.

It would be "a step further", the "humanization" of automation, a "receptacle" for artificial intelligences, increasingly present in our lives.
It would open up many other possibilities, virtually impossible for appliances: cooking, keeping the whole house clean and organized, picking up a boy's clothes and toys scattered around the house, and even "scolding" the kid or that young person who hasn't bathed for 3 days ��. It might even bathe the young person who hasn't bathed for 3 days... 🧐

Who wouldn't want a Rosie, from the Jetsons, to take care of their home and family?

We can go a little further, and imagine this domestic robot capable of performing small and large repairs, who knows, maybe even building a treehouse.
What the future holds for us is very uncertain, but all of this is a very probable future, at least for some part of society, if not everyone (those who survive climate change, wars, plague, and famine, but that's a conversation for another time 😅).

You might think these robots will be stealing part of our humanity, depriving us of those unique moments, like the baby crying with a dirty diaper in the crib at 4 AM 😄, or that treehouse YOU should build for your child...
And it is very likely that this will happen in many homes in this probable future.
Just as today our children are raised by other people to a greater or lesser extent, because we need to work, to "make a living".
I don't see much difference in this sense. Ultimately, the challenge is the wisdom of knowing what to do or not to do, how to conduct your life and utilize the resources available to you. Such robots will be just another resource, extremely valuable, granting us a powerful degree of autonomy in our choices!
I'd want one, I guess 😅. I'd be more concerned with the socio-environmental cost of such a business - just as I'm concerned today with the boom of electric vehicles, data centers, and many other devices consuming minerals, water, and energy - than with the implications for daily and social life.

Most likely, alongside these robots, many others will exist, doing and producing "a little of everything" for us, "human beings"... I try to envision this future, asking God that it be good and promising, for all people.
I don't know if it will be. In truth, I am deeply concerned about the probable near future of humanity, where a few will live in absolutely artificial comforts and the vast majority, if they survive all the evil that plagues us, will live in inhumane conditions.
The other day, at a union meeting, a colleague presented me with a hypothetical scenario that left me stunned: artificial intelligence and the automation of life and production processes making it possible to "discard" the mass of workers, the "poor", and all kinds of "unqualified" people. This will, obviously, lead to a rebellion of the masses, who will not allow themselves to be silently eliminated. But, perceive, the instruments of control and elimination of "these people" - where, probably we or our descendants will be - are already in full application and "testing", as in the Gaza Strip, Ukraine, or Yemen...

Quem aqui tem daqueles "robôs de limpeza", que ficam zanzando pela casa, varrendo e passando pano pelo chão? Muito útil, né? E cafeteira programável? já tive. Muito bom já acordar com o cheiro de café pela casa, cadenciado com o alarme despertador. Já tive uma panificadora também, aquele aroma de pão quente 😋. Só delícias e praticidade.
Hoje em dia já temos vários aparelhos automatizados, alguns semi-autônomos, ou "inteligentes" (geralmente significando que podem ser operados por wi-fi).

Agora imagine esses aparelhos todos se integrando na chamada "internet das coisas" e, ainda mais, operados por uma inteligência artificial, uma "super Alexa", com quem vc dá ordens e ela executa ou, ainda melhor, ela aprende com seus hábitos e faz tudo conforme seus gostos. Acredito que não estamos muito longe da popularização desse tipo de ambiente, a preços relativamente razoáveis para a "classe média" mundial.
Um dos meus "sonhos bestas", conforme brinco...

Não tenho problema com afazeres domésticos. Não sou lá muito caprichoso 🫣, mas lavo louça, ponho roupa na máquina e estendo (que lava é a máquina , né? 😉), varro chão, esfrego, passo pano, espano forro... O que for preciso pra manter o ambiente minimamente limpo e organizado.

Mas, às vezes, dá preguiça. Ou compromete meus compromissos. Por exemplo: domingo é o meu dia de lavar roupa (moro numa espécie de pensão, uma casa grande onde a dona aluga alguns quartos, suítes e kitnets, uma delícia de morada), então acabo elegendo como o dia da faxina e passo a manhã e parte da tarde envolvido com isso. Podia estar curtindo a cidade, passeando nos diversos parques de Brasília, ajudando no serviço social realizado por um centro espírita que conheço e já participei algumas vezes, mas não pude me comprometer dentro da agenda de tarefas semanais.
Uma casa automatizada me permitiria realizar essas atividades que hoje não consigo fazer caber na minha vida.

Mas vamos "um pouco" mais além, num futuro em que teremos a popularização de robôs-domésticos: uma "entidade", um "ser pensante", um "artefato", como vc queira compreendê-lo. Pode até vir a ser uma pessoa "da família", como muitas empregadas domésticas - cada vez mais raras e inacessíveis à classe média - são consideradas ainda hoje.

Seria "um passo além", a "humanização" da automação, um "receptáculo" para as inteligências artificiais, cada vez mais presente nas nossas vidas.
Abriria outras tantas possibilidades, virtualmente impossíveis aos aparelhos: cozinhar, manter toda a casa limpa e organizada, juntar roupa e brinquedo de menino jogado pela casa, podendo, inclusive, "dar uns carões" no moleque ou naquele jovem que não toma banho fazem 3 dias 😁. Poderá, inclusive, dar banho no jovem que não toma banho fazem 3 dias... 🧐

Quem não queria um Rose, dos Jetsons, pra cuidar da sua casa e da sua família?

Podemos ir um pouco mais além, e imaginar este robô doméstico capaz de realizar pequenos e grande consertos, quem sabe, talvez, construir uma casa na árvore.
O que o futuro nos reserva é muito incerto, mas isso tudo é um futuro bem provável, pelo menos pralguma parcela da sociedade, se não todos (os que sobreviverem às mudanças climáticas, as guerras, a peste e à fome, mas isso é conversa pra outra hora 😅).

Você pode achar que estes robô estarão roubando parte da nossa humanidade, nos privando daqueles momentos únicos, como o bebê chorando cagado no berço às 4 da manhã 😄, ou aquela casa na árvore que VOCÊ deveria construir pro seu filho...
E é muito provável que isso aconteça em muitas residências, neste futuro provável.
Assim como hoje nossos filhos são criados por outras pessoas em maior ou menor grau, pq precisamos trabalhar, "ganhar a vida".
Não vejo tanta diferença neste sentido. No final das contas, o desafio é o da sabedoria de saber o que fazer ou deixar de, como conduzir a sua vida e dispor dos recursos que lhe estão disponíveis. Os tais robôs serão apenas mais um recurso, valiosíssimo, nos conferindo um grau de autonomia nas nossas escolhas poderosíssimo!
Eu queria, eu acho 😅. Me preocuparia mais com o custo socioambiental dum negócio desses - assim como me preocupo hoje com o boom dos veículos elétricos, data centers e outros tantos aparelhos consumindo minérios, água e energia - do que com as implicações na vida cotidiana e social.

Muito provavelmente, junto com estes robôs existirão muitos outros, fazendo e produzindo "de um tudo" para nós, "seres humanos"... Fico tentando vislumbrar esses futuro, pedindo a Deus que ele seja bom e promissor, para todas as pessoas.
Não sei se será. A bem da verdade me preocupo profundamente com o futuro próximo provável da humanidade, onde uns poucos viverão em confortos absolutamente artificiais e grande maioria, se sobreviverem a todo o mal que nos assola, viverão em condições desumanas.
Outro dia, num encontro sindical, um colega me apresentou um cenário hipotético que me deixou estarrecido: a inteligência artificial e a automação da vida e dos processos produtivos tornado possível o "descarte" da massa de trabalhadores, dos "pobres" e todo o tipo de gente "sem condições". Isso levará, obviamente, a uma rebelião das massas, que não se deixarão eliminar caladas. Mas, perceba, os instrumentos de controle e eliminação "dessa gente" - onde, provavelmente estaremos nós ou os nossos descendentes - já estão em franca aplicação e "teste", como na Faixa de Gaza, na Ucrânia ou no Iêmen...
