Leadership and teamwork

‎In my dialect there is a saying that goes this way, " ete isidaha ikpong ikapa akai " meaning a tree cannot make a forest. This is one popular saying that we have all heard before. And applying this to leadership we can all agree that leader is all about team work, because as a leader you can work alone .

‎In as much as we have different qualities that makes a leader , quality like empathy, emotional intelligence, patience, good communication and good judgement skill. Having a good spirit of team work is also very important, because leading without carrying others along will at some point bounce back heavily and negatively on you. Leaders who fail to include others in their process of leading or during decision making will always end up creating conflict. Because after making a policy or rules and expecting others to adhere, a problem will set in when people will refuse to adhere, because they will feel the rules are being imposed on them and that they were not involved in any part of the decision making. And at that part problem will set in.

‎Another thing is that , there are some task that a leader will only have to give an instruction and the task is carried out, but as a leader who lacks a good team work skill, you will always find yourself struggling to handle everything on your own and this can be so draining.

‎Working together with people will always make the task easier and at times perfect , because nobody is an island of knowledge. There will get to a point were your knowledge alone cannot handle everything at that point other people's knowledge will come into play. And bringing people together to ensure there is peace and unity makes you a great leader and as a result of that more goals will be achieved.
