I was hungry and couldn't relate
You know how a child can be so happy and eager to share a story about something that happened at school? Some of them are really good at telling stories, while others struggle a bit with it. My neighbor's child happens to fall into the second category.
So, this hot afternoon, she came back from school looking very excited. I don't know what happened that day, but she was full of joy. Meanwhile, I was having a rough day. I had just returned from work, stopped by somewhere to sort out a few things, which didn’t go as planned and I was extremely hungry. When I finally got home, all I could think of was what to eat.
That was when she walked in, greeted me cheerfully, "Uncle Nsi, good afternoon." I responded, and she said, "Uncle, I’m coming to tell you a story." I quickly forced a smile and told her, "No problem," even though my mind was still fixed on food.
Not up to five minutes later, she came back and without noticing my mood, she started narrating her story. She was trying to explain what happened in school, but my mind was too divided. I could hardly pay attention, let alone follow the storyline. When she finished, she looked at me and asked, "Uncle, you’re not saying anything." I gave her another fake smile and said, "I understand, that’s a nice story."
The truth is, I couldn’t relate at all.
😁😁😁why naa, cos of just food. But it's good you even tried to listen to her. They are always drawn to people who give them audience
