Hugo Ekitike To Liverpool Confirmed
Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. The story that took the headlines last week has gotten a major new update over the weekend. Liverpool expressed their interest in going for Hugo Ekitike after Newcastle United still refused to answer or accept any bid for Alexander Isak this summer. Last week, I wrote about how Liverpool gave an automaton to Newcastle United for Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, which the Magpies didn't consider, even with a bid of 120 million euros for Isak
Liverpool's dream signing was Isak, as reported earlier last month, but the situation was complicated as Newcastle United was not ready to accept any offers for Alexander Isak. Last week, Newcastle entered the race to sign Hugo Ekitike back as a second striker in the squad. Still, things changed as Liverpool told Newcastle that they would enter the race to sign Hugo Ekitike if they don't accept a record signing of 120 million euros for Isak. Newcastle United rejected Liverpool's offer and tried to push for Hugo Ekitike, but it didn't work out for the Magpies.
Newcastle United's 80 million euros bid for Hugo Ekitike was rejected by Frankfurt as they wanted more for the player. The Megpies did not make a counteroffer to Frankfurt, which I was quite surprised by because they have the money, so why not go all out for Hugo Ekitike? Liverpool entered the race, and although their first deal was declined by Frankfurt, they made a counterproposal, which was worth 90 million euros, and it was accepted by Frankfurt. The deal between both clubs is done as in the coming days everything will be finalised and documents will be signed and exchanged between both clubs.
There was no issue in personal terms between Liverpool and Hugo Ekitike as the Frenchman was ready to join Liverpool this summer. Newcastle United dropped out of the deal and still retains Alexander Isak which is still a win for the club, but in the end, there comes a time the player will act on his ambition to win more titles and will start asking the question if staying at Newcastle United will offer those ambitions to come to reality. Newcastle will be looking for alternatives in the market to get a backup striker for the squad this summer because they need that squad depth as they will have many matches to play next season.
Liverpool has been 10/10 in this summer window and many football fans are asking the question of how the club managed to spend this much in the transfer market. The Reds have rebuilt the squad and I will say they will be a strong contender for the EPL title this season and the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool is still doing well in the summer window because, as Luis Diaz is probably going to leave this summer, they will be looking for a winger to replace that position, and I am seeing Rodrygo as one of the candidates.
There will be more updates as the week goes on and I will be sharing with the community. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
From what I understand, we (Newcastle) didn't up the bid as it would have taken up too much of our summer budget. We still desperately need a CB as well as a backup striker.
