Ansu Fati Back In Action
Last night FC Barcelona played matchday 33 of the season against Mallorca in Laliga. The starting lineup saw a massive rotation as the main key players of the team were rested except for Pedri, who is an incredible midfielder, and Lamine Yamal, a great 17-year-old who has risen to the biggest stages of football. This youngster is already among the top players in today's football. The important thing I noticed from the line-up was Ansu Fati's name which came as a surprise to me because it has been a long time since I heard any action from Ansu Fati on the pitch.
Ansu Fati's story is just similar to the ones we have heard in football. A young player breaks into the first team and performs outstanding on the pitch, which ends him a promotion to the first team along the line, injuries get to the player, and all of a sudden, the wonder kid begins to lose form and confidence. This is what Ansu Fati has passed through over the years at Barcelona, and although he was sent on loan to Brighton, he was not able to spark that light he once had when he broke into the first team. I can remember vividly that many Barcelona fans called him the next Messi and he was given the number ten after Messi left Barcelona in 2021.
Ansu Fati this season has not been given enough minutes by Hansi Flick. It has been a rough season for the Spanish forward and sometimes he doesn't even make the squad list for the team. When Hansi Flick was asked a couple of months ago about Ansu Fati's situation he said everyone on the team has to work ten times harder and show they have the right to earn minutes during training which is understandable, but when it kept occurring in Ansu Fati case I began to assume is Ansu Fati not giving his best or Hansi Flick doesn't want to give him some minutes on the pitch.
It has been revealed that Ansu Fati is expected to leave Barcelona at the end of the season as the club is ready to open the doors for the Spanish player. Barcelona wanted to get Rashford in the January transfer window, but it couldn't happen because a player had to leave, and Ansu Fati was not willing to leave as he wanted to succeed at the club. Times changed, and with no minutes given to Ansu, it was revealed that the player had begun to see his chapter at Barcelona coming to an end.
Ansu Fati got his start last night, and from the clips I watched this morning, he delivered a good performance on the pitch even though he didn't score a goal. There have been positive takes by Barcelona fans on X about Ansu Fati's performance against Mallorca they all want to see Ansu Fati get more playing time, even the fans at the stadium gave Ansu Fati a standing ovation when he was subbed off the pitch which just shows how Barcelona fans support Ansu Fati and wants to see more of him for the remaining part of the season.
Hansi Flick gave positive remarks on Ansu Fati's performance in a post-match interview, and he was okay with the player, hopefully, he will get more minutes as the season continues. This could be a turning point, and maybe Ansu Fati and Barcelona could drop the idea of leaving at the end of the season, but that all depends on what Ansu Fati can give with the minutes he will be getting under Hansi Flick. So, guys, thanks for sticking around, and have a good day.
