Surviving the Christmas Market Rush

As expected, there was a lot of rush at the village market today. Many people were out to shop for Christmas stuff. This is a season when demands for fresh tomatoes and other perishables are high, and I trust these ingredients to be very expensive this season.

But then, we have no choice; some of the perishables needed for Christmas meal preparations aren't something I would have bought in the past week at affordable prices otherwise, and they will get spoiled. So yeah, I dealt with the high cost of these perishables today, as did many other people.

It's the season, and these things are expected. However, for items I needed for the Christmas celebration that are not perishable, I got them last week at a better price. When I checked the current price today, I just smiled and said, "Nkem, you did well by shopping smartly last week," lol.

One important item I bought since last week Saturday was live chicken. I bought two big live chickens at #25,000 each; surprisingly, the same size was sold at #30,000 today. Imagine the money I saved by doing that. Thinking of doing poultry business towards the end of next year if God keeps me alive, lol. I just feel it's a temporary business I can do to make a nice profit during festive seasons like this.

That's, by the way.. my shopping continued; buying cabbage, bell peppers, carrots, and other stuff I needed for chicken sauce and salad came at a very high cost. I couldn't believe it, but I had to close my eyes and buy them, lol. At least I already promised my kids about preparing chicken sauce for them, so, no narrow escape for me , as @afrikens told me the other time, lol.

Overall, it was nice food shopping at the village market today despite the crowd and the pushing, everyone struggling to get what they want. I was able to buy things my family and I will use until New Year's time; hopefully, God keeps us alive to witness the new year in good health.
