RE: How Much Culture is Too Much Culture?

That's my typical African woman, well spoken Jhymi. Let's go back to our root regardless of how modernized we are becoming today. Why won't my kids bear my tribe name, dress like my tribe and speak our language. It's a must and I must confess that most African parents are guilty of passing their mother's tongue to their kids...my kids are still struggling with theirs but they are trying hard... sometimes if you don't hear what I say in igbo... just forget about it...this little discipline is making them to get serious with it...I must say I wasn't consistent in the beginning because I would be speaking our language to them and my husband was busy speaking English to them, spoiling my hard earned efforts.. lol
But my happiness is that we are doing better now and still going

My parents were both very English speaking people when I was growing up, so my lack of complete fluency in both languages come from there. But I still know it to a great extent and will strive for my Kids to know it as well. Please tell Engineer not to spoil our efforts biko, lol.
