Noni as a natural work of art [Eng/Esp]

I have known the noni plant for years, and I remember that at one point it was so popular that I even learned its scientific name: Morinda citrifolia. But no, I am not going to get technical now, because what I want to share with you today goes beyond nomenclature or the long lists of healing properties that circulate on the internet.

Let us be honest, who has not heard of noni? This fruit is credited with almost miraculous powers, such as curing cancer, reversing diabetes, helping with weight loss, or strengthening the immune system. The list is endless, and although I do not doubt its benefits, the truth is that for me, noni is much more than a superfood powder or a bitter juice. For me, noni is pure beauty.

Let me tell you that the first time I saw a noni plant in all its splendor, I was mesmerized. Its leaves are simply spectacularly large, broad, and of an intense, vibrant green. But what really stole my heart were its fruits. Have you ever seen a ripe noni up close? That peculiar texture, with those little eyes covering its entire surface, and each of those little eyes is actually the imprint of what was once a flower.

What is also fascinating is that on the same branch, noni gives us a true journey through time, because you can observe the tiny white flowers, so delicate and pure, slowly transforming, and it is like watching a nature documentary in slow motion, but live and in real time. The flowers wither, and in their place those marks remain, those little eyes that captivate me so much, and then the fruit begins to grow, going from pale green to translucent yellow, until it reaches that almost ghostly white that announces its ripeness.

The smell of ripe noni is not exactly a high-end perfume. Some describe it as aged cheese mixed with something that cannot quite be identified. Even so, people who truly know its benefits learn to live with that aroma.

The other day, while I was trying to capture all this beauty with my camera, there among the leaves, looking for the perfect angle, I suddenly saw some movement, and it was none other than a bee, small but tireless, fluttering among the white noni flowers. It went from one to another, plunging its tiny proboscis into each one, collecting nectar with a joy that was almost contagious.

It was a magical moment to see that bee so focused on its work, so happy among those flowers that go unnoticed by many. Definitely, noni is not only important for us humans, with our lists of properties and our detox smoothies, but it is also a gift for the entire ecosystem.

So, my dear friends, the next time you think of noni, do not only remember its health benefits, also remember its majestic leaves, its fruits with eyes of the past, its white flowers that attract bees, and that branch that, in a small space, tells you the complete story of life.
