¿Es obligado ponerle colores a la vida? [Esp/Eng]

¿Qué me define a mí entonces?

Is it obligatory to add colors to life?

I remember that some time ago our friend @emiliorios dedicated several posts to telling us about colors, and today, after several weeks of following the World Cup and seeing stands divided by colors, it has forced me to reflect. I don't know about you, but I have reached a point where phrases like "add color to your life" sound almost like an order disguised as candy, as if life were a paint-by-numbers canvas and my only responsibility were to fill in the spaces with bright yellow, vibrant orange, and passionate red, and if one day I paint gray, then something is wrong.
So I wonder if what I really need is not more color, but more contrast, or if what defines me is not the palette I use, but the way I mix the tones, even those that stain.

I confess that I have spent years trying to be a rainbow, trying to smile when my body wanted to cry and looking for the positive side when I only saw emptiness, while I made up my gray days with filters of "everything is fine" and postcards of "I am strong." And so I fell into the false belief that self-help consisted of that: changing the channel, forcing the light, running away from the shadow.
Now I am certain that life is not a blank canvas waiting for me to color it; life is a texture: the roughness of bad news, the harshness of fear, the unexpected softness of a hug just when you need it most. And that texture is not defined by color, but by the mark it leaves.

What defines me, then? It is not the Instagram smile that defines me, but the way I tremble when I write this; nor the shine of my achievements, but the perseverance with which I get up when failure has left me without strength.
Definitely, it is not the colors that could define me, but my capacity for wonder and my right to disappointment. I am also defined by the passion I put into what I love, and the silence I keep when something hurts me, and the laughter I share, and the tears I do not let show.
Thousands of self-help books have sold us the idea that happiness is a destination and color the vehicle, but I believe that happiness is not a fixed color, but rather the movement of the brush and the uncertain stroke.

For all this, I have stopped wanting to be a rainbow and now I want to be a landscape that has radiant sunny days, but also cloudy days that invite me to stay home. Because a landscape is not defined by its brightest color, but by the diversity of its seasons, and in the end life is that: a succession of seasons that we do not choose, but that we can learn to inhabit.
So my answer is that it is not necessary to add colors to life; it is necessary to add truth, presence, and to inhabit each shade with the courage of one who knows that gray also has the right to exist.
In the end, life is not a painting that must please others, but it is my own gallery, and I have the right to exhibit my unfinished works, my clumsy sketches, my broken canvases, because dear friends of this community @holoslotus, you and I are a work in progress, and in that process, color is not an obligation, it is a possibility.

STOPSer “colorido”.

Saludos!
