I used to read Dr. Stone. I mean the manga. I have never seen his anime, I got paused on the trip to USA. From the story I was intrigued who were the ones who had turned them into stone. It's something very peculiar and striking about the story.
I agree with you about the theme of the experiments.

Although I haven't read the manga, I can say that they animated it quite well.
