Special Delivery from a Near Future

She started the New Year determined to forget the past, until a package arrived dated December 31 of next year.

Inside the package was a set of meticulously drawn plans to build a time machine. At first, she thought it was a prank from her younger brother, but upon reading a note written in his handwriting, she doubted it was part of one of his games.

The note said: "Time-Phase Experiment, Test 2, start. To my 30-year-old self"

Incredulity mixed with curiosity, and little by little, as the months went by, she began assembling the pieces of the machine according to the instructions.

The clock ticked down to the inevitable moment when she would turn 30.

Finally, the machine was ready; when she plugged it in, it came to life. The possibility of correcting mistakes, avoiding painful decisions, and seeing the path she had taken with fresh eyes compelled her to press the button.

A small portal opened, and to conduct a small test, she sent the same package she had received to the past.
