Her shadow started doing things she hadn’t yet decided to do. It moved of its own accord and took on various forms; it was alive, and she knew it because she'd always had a strange feeling while it kept her company, as if it were watching her intently.

But now her shadow was trying to communicate, to tell her something important. It raised its hand as if it wanted them to join hands and took on the appearance of a man. She could understand what it meant, she could understand what it wanted: What her shadow wanted to convey was love, because in one way or another, they had been together all their lives.
