the difference in status will always generate a social comparison, whether the gap separating one person from the other is slightly large or small.
It's part of nature, it's been that way for thousands of years. As rational beings we are the most conscious of it, but it is something that is so ingrained in our nature that it is difficult to act without taking it into consideration.
