I don't know if I should recommend it to you since you said you're not a fan of that period of history. I think that if you want to appreciate Christopher Nolan's work, it's better to choose one of his other great films. I recently shared a complete list of all the Nolan films I've seen and reviewed. I hope you find one that interests you and want to watch it.
