Hello, anime fans. Today I bring you a romance and comedy anime that is somewhat special and different from the rest. It's an anime I watched last fall and enjoyed quite a bit, much more than I expected, actually. While it's far from being one of the best RomComs I've seen, it does manage to stand out from most. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Yui Tamura, Yano-Kun's Ordinary Days is an animated adaptation produced by the studio Aija-do. Discover the anime that will make you laugh at other people's suffering.

Plot

The anime begins in a high school classroom where we meet the class representative, Kiyoko Yoshida. She notices one of her classmates, Tsuyoshi Yano, who sits right next to her. What catches Yoshida's attention is that Yano-kun always wears bandages and band-aids on his face, as well as an eye patch over his right eye. Every day, Yano-kun shows up with more and more bandages and wounds, which worries Yoshida. One day, after school, she decides to secretly follow him home to find out how he gets those wounds. On the way, she discovers that he is simply very clumsy and prone to all kinds of accidents.

Trailer & Review

Next, I'll leave you with the trailer for the anime:

I know it's not good to laugh at other people's suffering, but it's interesting how this anime implements this in its plot as a way to make it a little funnier than usual. This type of comedy attracts attention, but unlike other works, this is a RomCom. The first thing that catches your eye is the main character, not only because of his appearance, but also because of his terrible, terrible luck. There are probably more than one or two versions of this story, with the protagonist having this bad luck in life. But the funny thing is that this would be the second time I've seen a RomCom like this.

Unlike most, this romance anime doesn't seek to be suggestive in the slightest. It doesn't even have Fanservice, which makes it very special in its own genre. And as for its type of comedy, well, it's obviously as I mentioned above. Our protagonist's bad luck is the source of the morbid yet innocent humor that this series possesses. But it's not just that, it's also his kind and affectionate personality, as well as his complete innocence in many aspects of teenage life. Here we return to romance as its perfect complement.

Another detail worth highlighting about this anime is that its romantic moments are as pure as you can imagine. The craziest thing is that it also has its typical tropes, such as love triangles and declarations of love, but all of this is portrayed in such a pure way that it's difficult not to empathize with its main characters. This also makes it difficult to hate any of the characters, especially after getting to know them better as the episodes progress. There is also the theme of friendship and camaraderie, with moments that are so common in the life of a high school student.

However, unlike in real life, having an "ordinary" or peaceful teenage life is a very difficult challenge for our protagonist. Yano-kun is one of those characters who loses all his luck in love and friendships in other areas, such as his safety, for example. He always ends up hurt, and the most absurd thing about this is how he gets hurt by anything. He even cuts himself with sheets of paper, literally. That's why Yoshida's initial goal of making Yano-kun's school life the happiest and most peaceful of his life becomes a complete challenge.

At first glance, it may seem funny and all anime-like, which is its main objective. But it also has that romantic side that adds variety to its story and characters. The way each character interacts with the others is very entertaining to watch because of everything that happens. Starting with Yoshida and Yano-kun, who have excellent chemistry from the beginning. The fact that they are both shy and innocent gives that special touch to the relationship they begin to form. But not only that, we also see how their feelings intertwine with each experience they have together.

I have also noticed that the anime gives a certain prominence and development to a third character, Yūdai Hashiba, who is also a classmate of Yoshida and Yano-kun. Although at first we see him as a future "rival in love," what happens at the end is what made me laugh the most in the entire anime. Yano-kun's personality and charisma are definitely as special as they are unpredictable. Another thing to note about our protagonist is that he is not completely dependent, despite his very bad luck. He is agile in sports and even knows how to draw very well.

In the end, when we discover the reason why our protagonist decided to isolate himself from his peers and be alone all the time, we feel a much deeper attachment to him than we expected to have at the beginning. Although his innocence is revealed as another cause of his problems, this does not detract from his very good intentions. This makes our protagonist someone with a very good heart, unlike most generic protagonists in other RomComs. Most of the episodes are calm, although very funny, in my opinion.

Last but not least, let's talk about the audiovisual aspect of Yano-Kun's Ordinary Days. Produced by the same studio that adapted From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated!, it's no surprise that this anime is of such high quality. This is especially true of the animation, with an art style and character designs that are very well suited to its humorous tone. There is also its vivid color palette and visual effects. The attention to detail is top-notch, without neglecting its fluidity. The sound effects are also noteworthy, but nothing compares to its soundtrack. In short, this is a RomCom anime that you might be interested in watching.

Personally, I give it a rating of 9/10 in terms of the romance and comedy genre.

Thanks to you.

Yes, I decided to do the tables manually, but using some of the commands provided by Hive Studio itself.

By the way, I forgot to mention that the GIFs weren't loading in either this post or the one I made and uploaded yesterday. When I copied all the text in HTML format to upload it via PeakD or Ecency, the GIFs didn't load at the end and I had to upload them again through their editors. 🤔

Interesting, the gifs didn't load

Can you send it here. The gif you uploaded.

So it uploaded but wasn't displaying in preview?

They didn't load in the preview or when I uploaded them. I had to upload them again, but I noticed they only load here on PeakD, not on Ecency like I tried with the last post. 🤔

Okay. I think the problem lies with Ecency itself, for the reasons I mentioned before. I've also noticed that there have been issues with image uploads on PeakD, but I was still able to manually upload the GIFs using their own editor and upload them successfully.

Oh, by the way, I think I was wrong earlier about the loading. If you're asking if they were loading in the Hive Studio Preview, then yes, they were loading. But when I copied the content using the HTML button at the end and pasted it into another editor like Ecency or PeakD, it wouldn't load in either the Previews or when I uploaded it.
