Hello, anime fans. Today I’m bringing you one of those animated series that air every season in Japan and around the world. Just another run-of-the-mill RomCom and a perfect example of everything that’s wrong with the massive anime industry. However, at the same time, it’s one of the most-watched and in-demand shows out there right now. Based on the light novel series of the same name written by Ghost Mikawa and illustrated by Tomari, “My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me!” was produced by Blade studio. Check out this RomCom about the protagonist’s best friend’s annoying little sister.
Hola, fanáticos del anime. En esta ocasión les traigo una de esas series animadas que frecuentemente se emiten cada temporada en oriente y el mundo. Un RomCom genérico más del montón y un ejemplo perfecto de todo lo que está mal en la enorme industria del anime. Sin embargo, a la vez es de lo más consumido y demandado que hay actualmente. Basada en la serie de novelas ligeras homónimas escritas por Ghost Mikawa e ilustradas por Tomari, “My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me!” fue producida por el estudio Blade. The anime begins by introducing us to Akiteru Ōboshi, an ordinary high school student whose best friend is Ozuma Kohinata, a handsome and intelligent young man whose younger sister is always hanging out at Akiteru’s apartment, annoying him with “pranks” after school. In contrast, Iroha Kohinata proves to be a studious and quiet student at school. One day, Akiteru’s uncle calls him to make a deal with him in exchange for his support of his team called “The Fifth Floor Alliance.” What his uncle asks of him is to start a fake relationship with his daughter, Mashiro Tsukinomori.

El anime inicia presentándonos a Akiteru Ōboshi, un joven estudiante de preparatoria común y corriente que tiene como mejor a amigo a Ozuma Kohinata, un atractivo e inteligente joven que tiene una hermana menor que siempre se la pasa en el apartamento de Akiteru mientras lo molesta con “bromas pesadas”, después de clases. En cambio, Iroha Kohinata demuestra ser una joven estudiante aplicada y tranquila en la escuela. Last time, we had our fair share of criticism for one of the most popular genres and demographics in the anime world: Isekai. Now it’s time to talk about the famous RomCom—you know, that mix of comedy and romance that became quite popular in the East thanks to anime featuring teenagers and/or high school students falling in love and all that. At first it was funny, but over the years it has become a pretty overused genre in this industry. These days, it’s impossible to go through a season without seeing at least one RomCom anime because of how in-demand it is.
“My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me!” is a perfect example of this, being the typical story of the protagonist who has a strange relationship with his best friend’s younger sister, who is clearly in love with him. The plot is packed with the usual clichés, bad jokes, awkward moments, and double entendres. And worst of all, despite being a romance, the plot revolves mostly around the protagonist’s struggles to achieve the aforementioned goal with his team of video game developers called The Fifth Floor Alliance.
La vez pasada criticamos lo suficiente a uno de los géneros/demografías más populares del mundo del anime como lo es el Isekai. Ahora toca hablar del famoso RomCom, ya saben, esa mezcla de comedia con romance que se popularizó bastante en oriente debido a los animes de adolescentes y/o jóvenes estudiantes de secundaria o preparatoria que se enamoran y todo eso. Al principio fue gracioso, pero con el paso de los años se ha vuelto un género bastante sobreexplotado en esta industria. Actualmente es imposible no ver ningún anime RomCom en una temporada debido a lo altamente demandado que es.
“My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me!” es un ejemplo perfecto de esto al ser la típica historia del protagonista que tiene una relación extraña con la hermana menor de su mejor amigo, la cual se nota claramente que está enamorada de él. La trama está repleta de los típicos clichés de siempre, chistes malos, momentos incómodos y frases de doble sentido. Y lo peor de todo es que, siendo de romance, la trama gira mayormente entre las dificultades que tiene nuestro protagonista para conseguir el objetivo mencionado arriba con su equipo de desarrolladores de videojuegos llamados La Alianza del Quinto Piso.
Source: Tenor.Mind you, this doesn't bother me much in a RomCom, since it's better than the typical plot where the protagonist falls for the popular girl in class and blah, blah, blah. In fact, what I really came to like about this anime was the protagonist's personality and demeanor—he has a clear vision of what he wants out of life and runs his own team of video game developers while still in high school. I like this because it gives him personality, something most RomCom protagonists completely lack. In contrast, Akiteru Ōboshi proves to be determined and hardworking.
Obviously, this leads to various instances of flirting and hints from his best friend’s younger sister, Iroha Kohinata. There’s also the protagonist’s cousin, which is another thing I don’t like at all. I mean, Akiteru’s own uncle asks him to have a fake relationship with his daughter at school to avoid trouble with the other kids. But, man, how can you ask your nephew to do that? How common is it in Japan for cousins to date or have romantic relationships with each other? I don’t know, maybe it’s a cultural difference or something—I really don’t know.
Ojo, no me molesta mucho esto en un RomCom ya que es mejor que ver la típica trama del protagonista enamorado de la chica popular de la clase y bla, bla, bla. Es más, lo que me llegó a gustar de este anime fue la personalidad y forma de actuar del protagonista, teniendo una visión clara de lo que busca en su vida y teniendo su propio equipo de desarrolladores de videojuegos trabajando mientras sigue aún en preparatoria. Esto me gusta porque le da personalidad, algo que la mayoría de protagonistas de RomCom carecen por completo. En cambio, Akiteru Ōboshi demuestra ser alguien decidido y trabajador.
Obviamente, esto hace que veamos distintos casos de seducción e indirectas por parte de la hermana menor de su mejor amigo, Iroha Kohinata. También está la prima del protagonista, la cual es otra cosa que tampoco llega a agradarme en lo absoluto. O sea, el propio tío de Akiteru le pide que tenga una relación ficticia con su hija en la escuela para así evitar tener problemas con los demás jóvenes. Pero, amigo, ¿cómo le vas a pedir eso a tu sobrino? ¿Qué tan común es en Japón que los primos salgan o tengan relaciones amorosas entre sí? No sé, tal vez y sea por la distinción cultural o yo qué sé, la verdad.
Source: Tenor.And worst of all, throughout the series, we see a sort of love triangle between Akiteru, Iroha, and Mashiro. This is common in almost every RomCom, but in this case, it’s a bit awkward to watch the protagonist get hit on by both his best friend’s younger sister and his cousin at the same time. To make matters worse, the cousin, Mashiro, has such an annoying personality at first that I really didn’t like her right away. Yes, she has her own development, backstory, and reasons for being the way she is at the start—which we come to understand over time—but I still really dislike her as a character.
The characters I dislike the least are both the protagonist and his best friend, Ozuma. As for the rest of the characters, I don’t like them at all, and to be honest, most of them don’t do anything to make me like them better. Among the worst are: the teacher, the woman from the recording studio, Ozuma’s cousin, and his younger sister. I dislike all of them—and to top it off, they’re all female characters—but the one I dislike the least, and that’s only because I felt a little sorry for her due to her backstory and character development, is Iroha. Although her insistence on constantly flirting with the protagonist bothers me a bit.
Y lo peor de todo es que, a lo largo de la serie, vemos una especie de triángulo amoroso entre Akiteru, Iroha y Mashiro. Esto es normal verlo en casi todos los RomCom, pero en este caso es un tanto incómodo ver cómo al protagonista le llegan insinuaciones por parte de la hermana menor de su mejor amigo y su prima a la vez. Para más inri, la prima, Mashiro, tiene una personalidad tan pesada al principio que de una me cayó bastante mal. Si, tiene su desarrollo e historia y razones por lo cual es como es al principio -cosa que vamos viendo con el tiempo-, pero igualmente me desagrada bastante como personaje.
De quienes menos me caen mal de entre todos los personajes están tanto el protagonista como también su mejor amigo, Ozuma. Del resto de los personajes considero que no me caen para nada bien y la mayoría de ellos tampoco ayudan a que me caigan mejor, la verdad. Entre los peores están: la profesora, la del estudio de grabación, la prima y la hermana menor de Ozuma. Todas -siendo personajes femeninos, para colmo- me caen mal, pero la que menos me cae mal y es porque me compadecí un poco debido a su historia y desarrollo es Iroha. Aunque su insistencia en insinuarle constantemente al protagonista me incomoda un poco.

And worst of all, it’s not the only RomCom anime that uses that kind of suggestive humor. The supposed humor in the anime is supposed to come from watching a girl flirt with a guy, only for everything she says or does to turn out to be just a joke in the end. I mean, I get the joke—it might be funny in real life between friends of the opposite sex, though that also depends on the person. But having 90% of an anime’s humor revolve around sex or similar topics is just too much. And worst of all, the protagonist takes these jokes as “bullying”—in other words, he’s a total crybaby.
Obviously, there’s no shortage of Fanservice either, something that’s already quite common in RomCom animes. While this cheap visual trope isn’t exploited as much as in other similar works, it does become part of certain female characters in this anime, as is the case with Iroha, for example. But hey, this is pretty standard in a Shōnen anime since its target audience is mostly hormonal teenagers. Honestly, I don’t know why anyone else would want to watch this anime, other than for the thrill or the innocent curiosity of finding out what happens next.
En cuanto a esto, hay algo del “humor” que maneja este anime que no entiendo muy bien cuál es el chiste. Y lo peor de todo es que no es el único anime RomCom que maneja dicho humor sugerente. Se supone que lo gracioso del anime es ver cómo una chica se le insinúa a un chico y que al final todo lo que ella le dice o hace es pura broma. O sea, entiendo el chiste ya que puede que en la vida real sea gracioso esto entre amigos del sexo opuesto, aunque eso también depende de la persona. Pero que el 90% del humor de un anime sea referente a sexo o cosas similares ya es demasiado. Y lo peor de todo es que el protagonista toma estas bromas como “bullying”, o sea, es un completo llorón.
Obviamente, tampoco iba a faltar el Fanservice, algo que ya es bastante común en animes RomCom. Si bien no se llega a explotar mucho este recurso visual barato, tal y como lo hacen otras obras similares, sí llega a formar parte de ciertos personajes femeninos en este anime, como lo es el caso de Iroha, por ejemplo. Pero bueno, ya esto es normal verlo en un anime Shōnen debido a que su público objetivo son mayormente adolescentes hormonales. Sinceramente, no sé por qué otra razón una persona querría llegar a ver este anime, aparte del morbo o la inocente curiosidad de saber lo que continuará después.

Last but not least, let’s talk about the audiovisual aspects of My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me! For a generic RomCom, I’ll admit the animation isn’t bad. The art style is fine, as are the character designs and the vibrant color palette. The use of lighting, shadows, camera angles, and visual effects isn’t bad either. The sound effects are good, and the same goes for the soundtrack. Anyway, I’ll leave this RomCom up to you—whether you watch it or not, it’s up to you.
Personally, I give it a 7/10 rating as far as the romance and comedy genre goes.
Pero bueno, ya les digo yo que no vale para nada la pena ver este anime, a menos que te guste tanto el RomCom, pero bueno. Por último, pero no menos importante, hablemos del apartado audiovisual que tiene My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me! Para ser un simple RomCom genérico, admito que no está mal su animación. El estilo de arte está bien, al igual que el diseño de los personajes y la paleta de colores vivos que tiene. El uso de luces, sombras, planos y efectos visuales tampoco están mal. Los efectos de sonido están bien y lo mismo podemos decir de su banda sonora. En fin, les dejo este RomCom para el que quiera, vaya a verla o no, mejor.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 7/10 en lo que respecta al género de romance y comedia.

lo vi y diría que es de esos animes que ya bueno lo terminas de ver, pero no es para repetirlo, hasta ahí queda, la animación muy bonita de verdad pero la historia mm deja mucho sobre todo con la intensidad de la prota y la prima que ps quiere o no quiere con él jeje, muy buena opinión.
