Hello, anime fans. This time, I bring you an Isekai anime that is definitely worth watching, despite having a fairly typical plot. However, it has an excellent mix of fantasy, adventure, action, and comedy that makes it an excellent choice if you are looking for something entertaining and easy to watch. Based on the light novel series of the same name written by Firehead and illustrated by YahaKo, "A Wild Last Boss Appeared!" is an animated adaptation produced by the WAO World studio. At the request of the other players, they agree to fight a "final battle" against a group of other skilled players called "The Seven Heroes". When they manage to sell it, our protagonist encounters a message on the screen asking if he would like to accept a new challenge. When he answers yes, he is transported to a fantasy world similar to the game he just finished.

Next, I'll leave you with the trailer for the anime:

What did I tell you? This is your typical generic Isekai anime. More specifically, it's one of those Isekai anime subgenres where players are transported to a fantasy world based on their favorite video games. While this type of anime has always existed, it must be admitted that SAO (Sword Art Online) was the anime that popularized it to such an extent that it is now one of the most overexploited types of Isekai anime today. And like any overexploited genre or type of anime, these Isekai anime have become the most generic you will find in this franchise.

Yes, there are many Isekai anime of this style that have both a fairly generic and poorly developed plot and characters, not to mention the terrible animation that most of them have, being low-budget adaptations. But there are also Isekai anime of this style that are well made, with stories and characters that are easy to remember. This is the case with A Wild Last Boss Appeared!, which has everything you would expect from an Isekai, but done well. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Isekai, but I won't deny that they are a type of anime that I find quite entertaining.

! [SPANISH VERSION]

The least I expect is for them to be well made, as is the case with the anime I'm bringing you today, which starts in a very similar way to what we see in many other Isekai anime. Upon being transported to a fantasy world, our protagonist finds himself possessing the body of his favorite character from the video game Exgate Online, Ruphas Maphaahl. Thinking that he is inside this videogame, he sets out to explore this world, but not before being welcomed by his advisor, Dina, someone that even the protagonist himself does not remember. She is supposed to be an NPC, but now that he has his own consciousness, he can talk to her normally.

Dina tells our protagonist that more than 200 years have passed since he was defeated by the Seven Heroes. Since then, this world has undergone many changes, including his most loyal servants being scattered throughout this vast fantasy world. Before continuing, it should be noted that Ruphas Maphaahl is apparently not just a character to be chosen by our protagonist, but also had a consciousness and a past life in this world. This makes the protagonist himself doubt whether this world is actually that of Exgate Online or a completely different world.

! [SPANISH VERSION]

I don't know if it was because of its familiar and easy-to-follow premise or its good animation, but there was something about this anime that particularly caught my attention and made me watch it in its entirety during its broadcast. Its first episode has one of the most entertaining and well-explained introductions in this demographic, with a protagonist and plot that are exactly what you would expect from a typical Isekai anime. We have a fantastic world to discover, full of monsters, magical creatures, heroes, adventurers, demons, and quite powerful beings. And if that weren't enough, we also have the subplot of Ruphas' past.

Adventure, action, fantasy, magic, comedy, and mystery are among the most common genres we find in this anime. I like that it manages to combine all of this in a very well-balanced way in each of its episodes, which is a huge achievement in itself. Most Isekai animes go from being pure action or pure humor with very uninteresting moments and almost no drama in their stories. Obviously, the target audience for these anime is not interested in these details and is only looking for pure superficial entertainment.

! [SPANISH VERSION]

But as a critic that I have been becoming lately, I demand a minimum of good development in both the stories and the characters of every anime I watch. This includes Isekai anime, which, as such, are the ones that lack this type of thing the most. Even so, the detail that this particular anime has in giving us a story and character development for our protagonist (Ruphas Maphaahl) throughout this story is worthy of appreciation. Not only that, but this anime also has a good variety of characters with their own stories to tell.

Clearly, the first thing that should be highlighted about this anime is that, from the beginning, it breaks with the typical pattern that almost all Isekai animes have about the "hero's journey". Here, the protagonist plays the role of a "Last Boss", who is a very powerful villain or antagonist who can even match the Demon King himself in this fantasy world. As you may have noticed, this does not mean that it does not have its typical tropes of the invincible protagonist, his harem of companions or followers, or the typical ultimate goal of saving the world and all that. But even with all this, this anime is still a good choice to watch.

! [SPANISH VERSION]

Starting with the action, which, in this case, isn't too bad, giving us a good variety of battles and super entertaining action scenes. There's also a touch of satirical humor that's easy to follow, but doesn't undermine the work as a whole. When it seeks to tell us a tragic or drama-filled story, it manages to do so with shocking endings or twists. Along with this, we also have the good character development of some of the characters in this anime, starting with Ruphas Maphaahl. Another thing to note is the construction of this world, which is also quite interesting.

It has no Fanservice, which is another point in its favor, and it has several plot twists at the end of this first season that really caught my attention. Yes, as you just read, the best thing about this anime is that it already has a confirmed sequel, a second season in production, which is another point in its favor, seeing that it was successful enough to continue with this adaptation. Most Isekai animes are not so lucky and always end up being forgotten as soon as their first and only season ends. Still, I think this particular anime is too underrated.

It's not that it's one of the best Isekai anime I've seen, but it does have potential. Last but not least, let's talk about its audiovisual aspects. The studio in charge is unknown, but that doesn't take away from the fact that they did a spectacular job, much better than one would expect. Both the character design and the varied color palette and use of light and shadow are noteworthy. The same goes for its animation style, a mix of 2D and 3D (CGI) and fluidity with excellent shots. The visual and sound effects are just as excellent, but nothing compares to its soundtrack. Anyway, here's an Isekai that's worth watching.

Personally, I give it a rating of 8.5/10 in terms of the Isekai demographic.

! [SPANISH VERSION]

Thank you!

By the way, I was going to mention that I tried Hive Studio, but I noticed that there are certain commands and details that don't add up.

To begin with, some links wouldn't load when I added or removed simple commands like **. Also, some boxes wouldn't load, nor would the YouTube links. When I tried the Magic Brush, I liked the double-column format, but when I copied it and put it in the PeakD editor to use it, I noticed that the commands that the AI gave me did not load. One of those commands was for blocks [block] if I'm not mistaken.

In the end, I preferred to use the style I feel comfortable using in my review posts like this one. 😅

Hello Friend,
I understand 🤗

Hive studio was built to work with the html tag "strong" to make texts bold because there is a tendency ** wont work for peakD, I wanted to use a command that works on all front ends.

Concerning the dual column, it actually works fine.
The right code to copy is from the button here --->

Copying the code at the left side won't work. The [dual] blocks you noticed was a way of solving an issue I encountered when building, its not a standard html tag.

So if you ever use the dual column template, copy the code using the button by your right.

More updates coming soon! This is an MVP version to kick off Hive Studio
The next version will be better

Please give Hive Studio one more chance 🤗🚀

Aaaaaah, That explains everything. Yes, I've gotten used to using certain Markdown-like commands because I frequently use the PeakD editor, but I also use some HTML commands. I also worry about how my posts look on the different Hive front-ends. I'll have to get used to HTML, and thanks to this tool I was able to learn something about it.

Yes, I'll be testing it with my next posts to see how it goes.

Thank you so much.

In liked that show but most say that I didn't liked the ending. I won't spoiled it, but thought it was a rushed finale and not very relevant to the main conflict of the show.

Well, I understand your opinion. Personally, I loved that they gave Rufas's character time and development because of everything he represents in the story and plot of this fantastic world. I really value that because Isekai mostly give us generic characters with generic stories and almost no development. And that's why I detest those kinds of cheap Isekai anime that only serve to entertain an audience no older than 12 to 15 years old with few developed neurons who only want to see fights and visual effects.

The introduction of each of the twelve beasts, the construction of this world, the fight of the seven heroes against the demon king and its aftermath... In short, this is a good Isekai anime that is definitely worth watching. But hey, that's just my personal opinion. To each their own.

Ah, I liked it, mostly because of the fact that a guy is in a woman's body, and that season finale left me with a lot of questions and wanting to know why he's there 😅. Excellent recommendation and review.
