What You Can't Avoid, Welcome It.
Finding peace and power by embracing the inevitable
Greetings Hivers,
We all fight things we can't change. Traffic jams that wreck your morning plans or the slow creep of age or unexpected health issues or those days when life simply refuses to follow your script. As a doctor I see this struggle every single day in my patients and in my own life. We tense up then push back and end up making things harder for ourselves. But what if the real shift is simpler than we think, "What?" stop fighting what you can’t avoid and start welcoming it.

This isn’t about giving up or being passive. It’s about moving your energy away from pointless resistance toward something wiser acceptance. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately while balancing my medical practice time with family and life here on Hive.
The Trap of Resistance
You’re stuck in a long hospital queue or crawling through bad traffic after a long shift. What is your first reaction? Frustration builds you start checking your phone every few seconds or your mind spirals into worst case scenarios. That resistance doesn’t make the wait any shorter it just drains your energy.
I’ve learned this the hard way during difficult patches in my personal life. Holding tightly to “how things should be” left me exhausted. The moment I began saying, “Okay, this is happening. Let’s work with it,” everything started feeling lighter. The wave is coming anyway why not learn to ride it? the easiest way to get things sorted.
What to Avoid? Common Resistance Habits
Here are some traps that make unavoidable situations hurt even more when
Constant complaining: A little venting is normal but endlessly asking “Why me?” keeps you stuck and blocks any real progress.
Over planning: Trying to control every outcome whether it’s perfect health career moves or family matters, only creates more anxiety when life has other plans.
Numbing out: Endless scrolling on social media platforms for no reason or burying yourself in work just to escape. It only delays the real work.
Blaming others: This hands away your power. Life throws curveballs not everything is in our control.
Toxic positivity: Forcing yourself to say everything is “fine” when it clearly isn’t. Real acceptance starts with honesty.
Stepping away from these habits has freed up so much mental space for me. I’ve noticed the same pattern in the health tips and Hive experiences I share small daily resistances around aging tech changes or routine stress can build into something much heavier.
Tying It to Life on Hive and Beyond
If you’ve followed my earlier posts as of reflections on daily habits, tech tools for doctors and creators or deeper pieces like How to Survive in 2026, Story of A Middle Class Boy, and Efforts Never Die you’ll probably spot this same thread running through them.
What unavoidable challenge are you facing these days work pressure? health goals? or growing on Hive?
The Beautiful Payoff
When you welcome what you can’t avoid, you start gaining these following things;
- More energy for the things that truly matter.
- Real growth and fresh creativity.
- Stronger and more genuine connections (people can feel when you’re truly present).
- Most importantly A deeper trust in yourself.
Life will keep sending waves some will gentle and some crashing hard. The secret isn’t becoming wave proof. It’s learning how to swim with them.
