This is my post for #freewriters 2996 prompt contemporary hosted by @mariannewest

My old, ugly kitchen faucet will no longer be on the kitchen sink after tomorrow. I am guessing it has been 3 or maybe 4 years ago the hot water side knob broke, and my husband, being the man he is, fixed it with a clamp and a small screwdriver. That has been the knob since then. I can say I am happy that yesterday I turned the cold water side off, and it spun back to far. Now it drips if you do not get it just in the right spot. It was used when I got it about 15 years ago, and I thought I would need to find another used one, or I would have a screwdriver on the cold side, too. One time, he fixed our toilet with a flashlight bulb and a fishing hook. If he can find a way to rig something to make it work, he will. We do not buy new, and I live with it as it is until it breaks.
I was surprised when he told me to go on Amazon and order another one. I found several that were under 40 dollars, but my oldest daughter taught me to read the reviews before I buy things. The reviews were all bad on the cheaper ones, saying they either drip or break within a year.
It took some time, but I found one with good reviews, but it was more than I wanted to spend. I waited until my husband got home before buying it. I told him about the cheap ones, and he told me to buy the 75 dollar one. I was shocked. He said he does not want to replace it in a year. I was happy he said this. I think it has a contemporary look to it.
I thought this week was going to be our coldest weather, I was wrong. They say something called a bomb cyclone will develope and this Sunday morning our low will be 28 with a wind chill of 17. I do not know how you people who live up north can handle temps like this. With the cold front that hit a few days ago, our temperature dropped 40 degrees overnight. With this new forcast many plants will either die or suffer grave damage. There is no way we can cover 800 areca palms. I will try to put what pineapple plants I can in my husband's shed, but I have 73 of them and other plants to go in there, so I do not think they will all fit. Of course, I will cover what I can. I am worried because we are always colder than they say it will be. I expect where I live will be in the low 20s.
This is a great song, @jacobtothe
Yay, new faucet!
I don't think the song is very good. I like the sentiment, but it seems hastily written and unpolished. That's fair enough considering the immediacy of its message, but the rhymes, meter, and analogies all need work.
The lever on our toilet has misbehaved for years. My husband has tinkered with it repeatedly, and even replaced it once with a new one,but it still doesn't work correctly all the time. The lid for the tank cracked in half a year or two ago, and it's almost impossible to replace just the lid to the tank, because they come in so many different shapes. We may have to break down and buy a new toilet one of these days. I've gotten 2 new bathroom sinks at the Habitat for Humanity thrift store, so maybe I should try shopping for a toilet there, too.
