This is my post for #freewriters 2996 prompt reverse down the street hosted by @mariannewest

I was bored and looking back at the videos on my Ring Doorbell. I found we have a black cat with three white feet that visits at night. It walks up our driveway and into the yard. The camera in the backyard picks it up back there. It comes a few times each night, except last night, I guess it was too cold. I wondered what other animals visit, so I kept looking.

This is where our driveway turns and goes to the gate to our front yard. At midnight a couple of days ago, I saw a bright light facing the gate and then a spotlight shining toward the preserve. I kept watching, and someone was walking toward our gate. It was a cop. He walked to the gate and then back to his car. We are the only house down here, it is a dead end road.

When he left he had to reverse down the street because he did not pull up to the gate or turn around where his car was sitting. After seeing this, I went to the gate and looked around to see if he might have left a card or note, but I did not find anything. It is a mystery as to why he was here.

My son came home last night, and I could tell he was using. I was worried about him. I showed him the video, and he blew it off saying, "good they are keeping an eye on the place". I wondered if the cop was looking for him.

My son was in the bathroom, and after he came out, I went in, on the floor, I found a little ziplock bag, it is half inch by half inch in size and half full of something white. I do not know what kind of drug it is, but it must be something he shoots up with.

My heart hurts so bad, and I do not know what to do to help him, he is so skinny. I am sure when he woke this afternoon, he looked for it. I could hear him searching the bedroom he was in, and then he left without saying a word. I did not tell him I found it. He weighs heavy on me. All I can do is pray for him, because I know prayer works.

Seek help for him. A rehabilitation centre that treats these cases will be a blessing so that he does not regress.

I will pray for him, too. Being a mother never gets any easier, does it?
