5 minute freewrite 2956 prompt red hot oven

My sister has been sick for the last two days, but said she was feeling well enough to fish today. The wind was blowing 12 to 13 knots from the west. Cat Island is on the west shore, so I tried it first, there was nothing there. The fish have been at Long Point, which is on the east shore. I knew it was not going to be nice, but if we were to catch anything, that is where we needed to be.

As I came up on Long Point Flatt, I saw one boil the water, we anchored and had three of the six rods out and had a paompano on one of the rods. We sat there for an hour and never caught another one.

It was windy and a little chill in the air to me. I look at my sister, her jacket was off, and she was sweating like she was standing over a red hot oven. I asked if she wanted to go home and she said no.

We anchored again and again, caught one not long after that. I joked that all we needed to do was anchor fifty times.

The big jacks came by us, the white you see on the water is them striking into bait. They only came close to our boat one time. I was worried one would see our bait, but we got lucky, and they went on their way.

My sister was fighting a big pompano, and it went under the boat, and she let the rod get against the boat and snapped it off. I was mad, I only had two long rods, and it was one of them. We still got the pompano by her hand lining it in.

My sister likes the new cooler, I do not. It is hard for me to climb over, I have no place for my oars, and my rods have to be tied down when trailering.

We ended up catching seven pompano, but they are all nice size. We did not weigh them today. We got more ice from the fish house, but left the fish on ice in the boat. We will weigh them tomorrow. My husband caught five, he left his iced down in his boat, too.
