Is Steins;Gate the best time-travel anime ever?
Hey, Hive friends! A few days ago, I started watching a really interesting series. According to MyAnimeList, it’s one of the highest-rated anime; so I figured it must be good, and decided to check it out to see what it’s like.
The theme in question is about time travel and time machines. Honestly, it’s a theme I really like, especially when it’s well-executed. That said, I do think the first twelve episodes are pretty slow-paced. I know they’re necessary for the plot, but still, for those who need action or major events to stay engaged, they might miss out on this great anime.
I don’t think I need to go out of my way to hide the title of this series, since it’s pretty well-known, so many of you will know I’m referring to Steins;Gate. The best time-travel anime? We’ll find out.

Okabe Rintaro is our protagonist, a self-proclaimed mad scientist who spends his time conducting experiments and pretending that an evil organization is after him. One day, when Okabe attends a lecture on time travel, he runs into Makise Kurisu in the building, who tells him that he had tried to warn her about something—even though Okabe had never spoken to her before.
After listening to the lecture and arguing with the speaker, he goes to look for his childhood friend Mayuri, when suddenly he hears a blood-curdling scream. Running toward the source of the sound, he opens a door and finds Makise Kurisu dead, covered in blood. The lecture is canceled, and Okabe sends a message to his friend Daru telling him about the incident; just as he presses the send button, he seems to travel back in time, a fact confirmed when he sees Kurisu again upon arriving at his university.
Many questions arise: What really happened? Is time travel possible? In the end, perhaps Okabe will wish he had never joked about being pursued by an evil organization.

What really surprises me about Steins;Gate is that its plot tries to explain everything in a very scientific way—so much so that, as I’ve seen in some videos, scientists say that much of what’s said is actually true. They use science to tell a story that could be considered realistic; it’s clear that the anime’s creator didn’t want it to feel like fantasy.
The characters are very endearing; I suppose this is achieved thanks to the first 12 episodes, which serve as an introduction. I could easily say that they’re all great, but my favorite is Suzuha: she’s just so well-developed. Her story and backstory throughout the entire plot seem to me to be the most vital.
I’d tell you about the ending, but I don’t want to ruin the experience for you; I think it’s masterful. It ends up blowing your mind and filling you with joy at the same time. I saw that there are also some specials, a movie, and another series; I’ll check those out later to see how they are. Tell me, have you seen Steins;Gate? What did you think? I loved it. ¡Hola amigos de Hive! Hace unos días comencé a ver una serie muy interesante. Según MyAnimeList, es uno de los animes mejores calificados; por lo tanto, pensé que debe ser bueno, así que decidí echarle un ojo a ver qué tal.
El tema en cuestión trata sobre viajes en el tiempo y máquinas del tiempo. Sinceramente, es un tema que me agrada mucho, y más si está bien ejecutado. Eso sí, pienso que los primeros doce capítulos son bastante pesados. Sé que son necesarios para la trama, pero igualmente, para aquellos que necesitan acción o que ocurran grandes eventos para mantenerse al tanto, puede que se pierdan de este gran anime.
Creo que no tengo que esforzarme mucho en ocultar el título de esta obra, ya que es bastante conocido, así que muchos sabrán que me estoy refiriendo a Steins;Gate. ¿El mejor anime de viajes en el tiempo? Lo descubriremos a continuación.

Okabe Rintaro es nuestro protagonista, un autoproclamado científico loco que se la pasa haciendo experimentos y fingiendo que una organización malvada lo persigue. Un día, cuando Okabe va a una conferencia acerca de los viajes en el tiempo, en ese edificio se encuentra con Makise Kurisu, quien le dice que él le quiso advertir acerca de algo, aunque Okabe nunca antes había hablado con ella.
Luego de escuchar la conferencia y pelear con el orador, se va a buscar a su amiga de la infancia Mayuri, cuando de repente escucha un grito desolador. Corriendo hacia el origen del sonido, abre una puerta y se encuentra a Makise Kurisu muerta, con un montón de sangre. La conferencia se cancela, y Okabe le manda un mensaje a su amigo Daru contándole acerca del incidente; justo cuando presiona el botón de enviar, parece viajar en el tiempo, cosa que se confirma cuando vuelve a ver a Kurisu al ir a su universidad.
Muchas preguntas se presentan: ¿qué fue lo que verdaderamente ocurrió? ¿Se puede viajar en el tiempo? Al final, quizás Okabe nunca querrá haber bromeado con que una organización malvada lo perseguía.

Lo que me sorprende bastante de Steins;Gate es que su trama intenta explicar todo de forma muy científica, tanto así que, según he visto en algunos vídeos, científicos dicen que mucho de lo que se dice es cierto. Y es que usan la ciencia para contar una historia que podría considerarse realista; se nota que el creador del anime no quería que se sintiera fantasioso.
Los personajes son muy queribles; supongo que esto se consigue gracias a los primeros 12 capítulos, que sirven como introducción. Podría decir con facilidad que todos son buenos, pero el que más me gusta es Suzuha: está demasiado bien construida. Su historia y trasfondo a lo largo de toda la trama me parecen lo más vital.
Les hablaría del final, pero no quiero arruinarles la experiencia; me parece magistral. Te termina explotando la mente y llenándote de alegría a la vez.
