$28M Laundered with Anime NFTs

Hello everyone! Today I got some great news that really caught the attention of the crypto community.

I was looking at blockchain transactions, NFT marketplaces, Twitter forums, and some research papers all day long. And suddenly I saw—some of the money from the Bittensor hack was laundered through anime NFTs. A total of $28 million was hacked, of which about $100k went this way.

At first, I thought, “Okay… is this really possible?”. I then put all the data together in tables and graphs. Coinglass and blockchain explorers saw some strange activity in NFT presales. It felt like someone was quietly playing a big game.

A former Opentensor engineer could also be involved. While the evidence is not complete, the circumstantial evidence is quite strong. ZachXBT, a veteran on-chain sleuth, says, “This is a very rare tactic, definitely not the fault of the NFT holders.”

If you’re wondering, “Why is this important?”—because such methods make it harder for criminals to track them. They learn from each other quickly. Even on a small scale, NFT laundering could become a major challenge in the future.

In my own reflection, I saw that crypto crime has become much more subtle and clever in 2025. It’s not just hacks, but new types of blockchain-based tricks that are a tough test for law enforcement.

Today’s exploration taught me—the crypto market is not just a game of prices or charts. Sometimes the combination of human imagination, strategy, and blockchain technology creates the biggest events.

I remember from the very beginning when the NFT debate was hot, there were these money laundering issues and they still haven't done anything to fix these issues. In fact, I don't think there's anything that can be done. Anyone can buy and sell at whatever price they want, and no one knows what's going on behind the scenes.
